Dirty Harry has a vastly better protagonist (Eastwood is badass, Willis is a try-hard fucking dork) and Andy Robinson is great as the totally demented killer Way better film
Bruce Willis is like a dork suburban white guy who plays harmonica in a blues band on the weekend with other old white dorks and they sing in Amos n Andy voices like "gots mah mojo woikin'" and their fucktard band has some name like T-Bone Kozlowski and The Naugatuck Nighthawks
Never liked Get Carter. Not to say it isn't any good universally ....I just feel British 'gangster' movies are a bit lame for my liking.
Get Carter is fucking amazing. Don't know why you would think it's a lame. It's an incredibly dark movie, and Caine plays more ruthless than anybody else has in the genre.
The British Gangster movie wasnt popular back in the late-60s/early-70s and the UK industry as a whole was pretty dire. Then you got Richard Burton in Villain also in 1971, and it wasn't until the television series The Sweeney in '75 that portrayed British crime in a more grittier style and The Long Good Friday another 5 years after that that, which became a pretty big hit and the wheels started turning. As soon as British-crime-thrillers started to become more and more popular in the 1990s, that Get Carter was then re-reviewed and seen as the 'Daddy' of this genre.
Dirty Harry are like westerns and James Bond films. They’ve aged so poorly you have to lower your standards and judge them as old movies that can still be entertaining. Die Hard is still a great fucking movie.
Die Hard it's just a great FILM...I can watch over and over...action...action... Dirty Harry is good 2....
Die Hard is the better movie overall, but Eastwood carries Dirty Harry to the victory single-handedly
Bruce Willis is about as cool as somebody’s dad singing “Bad To The Bone” Eastwood is an effortless badass
Bruce Willis became an action star because he has the look of an everyman, and it made him "relatable". Clint Eastwood does not have the look of an everyman - he has the look of a badass combined with movie star looks.
Compared to Eastwood, no. He also never had the badassery comedic wit of Eastwood. Like in In The Line of fire: Malkovich: "Do you believe in the nobility of suicide, Frank?" Eastwood "No. But if you wanna go blow your goddamn head off, go right head."
