How and why? I think Spence is not only bigger, but just better. Crawford looked average against Burns and Gamboa, and who has he beat since? A decision win over Postol, and then a bunch of scrubs like BigDongo. Spence won't just beat Crawford, he'll fucking steamroll him, easily. Spence hasn't done much either overall, but brutalising Algieri and Brook is more impressive than Crawford's entire career.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Spence, he's excellent. I do think Crawford is a better boxer though, lovely switch hitting, crafty, I think he'll outbox Spence. I totally get why people are picking Spence, he can box, he's the bigger guy and he hits harder. However, if boxing was decided simply on who hits harder and who has fought the better opposition at the time then there'd be no reason to make the fights. I dunno, I guess it's partly gut instinct, but I've thought Crawford wins for a while now. It's not that Spence is overrated, he isn't, but Crawford seems to be quite a bit underrated on here, the guy is very, very good.
Also, Crawford didn't look average against Burns, he won every round in Glasgow. Brook is better than anybody Crawford has beaten, I'll give you that, but it's not like Crawford has avoided anyone, there just hasn't been anybody that good to fight. Num Sen?
Weird, I actually feel the opposite way. I think he's really overrated here and elsewhere, gets talked about as the best fighter in the world, and imo he's not even top 5 p4p. It's easy to switch hit and look crafty against scrubs. Don't get me wrong, I know he's good - a good, solid, skilled, world class fighter. But imo that's all he is, a good solid fighter, not this other worldly talent as many people like to make out. To me, Lomachenko fits that bill and Crawford is more similar to Garcia - good and solid. He didn't win every round, the judges scored it 8-4 and that's basically what I remember it to be. It was a clear win obviously, but he looked far from spectacular against the very average Burns. And of course I know it's no fault of his own, he hasn't avoided anyone, but until he beats someone significantly better than than BigDongo or Postol, I'm not completely sold on him, num sen? ;)
I don't think either of them are on the level of Lomachenko to be fair, it's not a knock on them, just that Loma is that good. I think Crawford is quite a few levels above Garcia though. As for the Burns fight, been a while since I watched it but I remember having it something like 118-110. He cruised through.
I'm in the same boat with Mex. Most proponents of Spence beating Crawford say "Spence wins because he's too big." Like Mex, I feel that Spence is just a better fighter than Crawford. I feel like people say Crawford is better because he's more flashy, and fast twitchy. If we're talking overall dominance, then Crawford has actually dropped more rounds, and looked more vulnerable at times. Spence lost about 3 rounds to Brook, but outside of that, you can literally count on one hand the amount of ROUNDS Spence has lost in his career.
There's nothing that suggests that Loma is in a different league than Crawford and Spence. I know the Top Rank hype machine is trying to make it seem like Loma has achieved some prime Jones level of dominance, but I can't help but feel that he's not quite as good as good as his hype. Granted, I'm a Loma FAN. The guy is fucking awesome... but you have people right now saying he's on the same tier as Robinson/Leonard/Duran/Jones/Whitaker ect, and it's just premature to say that. What I do agree with is that all three (Loma, Crawford, Spence) are better than Mikey. I love Mikey too, and I think he's one helluva fighter... but Loma, Crawford, and Spence just have a certain level of physical talent that makes them better than Garcia. But at this point, I think Loma, TC, Spence, and Mikey are the clear top 4 P4P. Golov and Kov are aging, and Canelo is shit.
Grim Reaper, when are you coming for Bob Arum, sir?????? Arum "I'm taking my cards off HBO, and now boxing fans won't have to endure a paywall because they'll be on ESPN." Also Arum "I'm gonna throw arguably my best fighter behind an experimental paywall in the biggest fight of his career."
This should be a red flag for Crawford. I hope he's smart enough to realize he's been being terribly promoted. I know he's a highly intelligent fighter, but we don't know if he's a highly intelligent person in general.

The ESPN experiment has officially failed.... and not to sound like the late great Manny, but "just as I expected." The network doesn't give a shit about boxing... the NFL is king on ESPN... NBA, and MLB are secondary... then NHL, golf, tennis ect... THEN boxing at the bottom. Crawford needs to do WHATEVER he can to leave Arum and jump to Showtime, while he still can. Who gives a shit if it's less viewers? At least Showtime cares about boxing, knows boxing, and knows how to produce boxing.

How many people that already have ESPN are going to pay for an ESPN app? I guess the idea is people will buy the app for the fight like ke it’s a cheap PPV. Would’ve made sense for a pacquiao fight, but is the public that excited to see bud vs the guy that got a lucky decision over old pac?

I'm a Loma fan as well and I agree that he is being overrated. He is straight up being compared to Robinson and that's just absurd. He still is a top 5 pound 4 pounder no doubt, but the hype is a bit ridiculous.
I still say Lomachenko is another level above Crawford and Spence, purely from a technical standpoint.
