is it an easy win for Split Enz, or is there something else?

i'll add 'artist' to the discussion since bands alone could leave it a bit narrow

i've found cdoggs weakness - lack of knowledge of any music outside of 2 countries

LOL yeah, the guy that was stunned to discover that Styx wasn't in any way an innovative or talented band and the guy whose next thread will be "best band from San Marino?" are the gurus of music knowledge here

  7. This is actually a valid thread being as New Zealand is the superior country.

Howeer, outside of my rare bootleg copy of The Wellington Bombers: Live at Westerm Springs 1976....I don't own a lot of Kiwi Rock

Funny how different your attitude is about music compared to painting. Maybe it's because you can play music and thus consider yourself an authority on it. Of course, that would be a mistake.

Still waiting... what innovations are they responsible for?

You're out of your depth here

Oh. Is this your specialty? Telling people what music they can and cannot like? I like Eddie Money and REO Speedwagon. I think both are great and there's nothing you can do about it.

I walked into a bar in San Francisco and some older gay guy was singing this song a capella (he had a really nice voice I must say.)

I asked "Who are you? Dennis DeYoung?"

He said "No. I'm Dennis DeOld."

I only know three acts out of New Zealand.

Split Enz (Neil Finn from that band started Crowded House.)
    Crowded House
OMC (They had one hit in the US. "How Bizarre." )

  28. Basically, the only good music from New Zealand is when UK artists tour there and play live.

    Ditto, Auscheatralia.

Both nations are pretty wank, anyways....

Crowded House formed in Australia though...so doesnt it count as Australia?

Split Enz have a few good songs though..they seemed alot funner
