LOL how is it ridiculous you dicksplash? Of course the US would win in an overall battle, there are shit loads more people.
What? You mean; The Beatles The Rolling Stones The Who Pink Floyd Led Zeppelin vs. Any 20 American artists oool - yeah, its as close as Vasyl Lomachenko vs his last four opponents
Nope. Neither you or especially any of the 'We-Don't-Know-SHIT-About-Music' forum members has come up with any really great US artists yet.
The 60s and 70s don't belong to England unless you restrict the criteria to "musical groups that play rock music and have all-white lineups" and even then it's not particularly true
i dunno, Masterdo makes a pretty good case on the 70's and 80's, and no one has rebutted at least you can win the 90's though
He's made no case... he's simply listed bands and given daft summations of them that he himself doesn't even fucking believe
The problem with cdogg, is that he has turned this into a ´USA! USA! USA!´thread and it wasn´t even the case! Fact of the matter is, ask anyone or look at any objective greatest artists/albums from the 1960s and 1970s, and out of 60 or so albums, probably 15 are by Amrican artists. TOPS. However, you are right: the tide might be turning as we shall see in Mustard´s next installment!
More nonsense Your entire purpose was to turn it into an "England vs USA" thread You should read your first post again
cdogg on the fuckin ropes as usual. Can he survive this barrage??? YES. Where US rock and pop made a massive impact is the years during and following Punk / New Wave (oo, ironically, a genre that doggshit hates and knows next-to-nothing about, oo: Talking Heads The Ramones Blondie The Cars And there´s some great lower-tier artists, too: Television Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Van Halen Boston Foreigner Heart Iggy Pop Meatloaf The problem with dogdirt187, is that he claims to hate all of this stuff - and so, by doing this, he negates any meaningful or objecive case about what is great and what is not because he either hates it or hasn´t heard it.
Your own actual opinion of 90% of the stuff you've posted is low I refuse to take you at face value. The topic is completely tainted because your only aim is to wind up You don't even believe what you're typing
So, as of the mid-to-late 1980s, we have the true greats: Bob Dylan The Byrds The Beach Boys The Doors Jimi Hendrix Experience Stevie Wonder Marvin Gaye Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band Talking Heads Micheal Jackson Prince Madonna
Yep. USA pisses the 1990s: all the top rap, hip-hop acts (Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, etc), Nirvana, R.E.M, and the artists at the tail-end of my earlier post.
You've done a piss poor job and you don't like half of that list at all Furthermore, you're leaving out entire genres of music You're a daft cunt Your lists look like shite compiled by a Rolling Stone critic
And you haven´t addressed the thread by listing some really outstanding artists from the USA since 1963. So, I´ll let you go ahead and name some, and I will objectively tell you where you´re possibly going wrong.
See, three pages in and you´re still here yet you won´t debate or argue in a civilized or objective manner. At least the lower-IQ-of-musical-creed posters who came, commented but were quickly swept aside had the decency to stay the fuck out of a thread they know little about.
I'm your superior so I've stuck around to give you a few smacks in your head because somebody's got to
That´s as lame and weak as your attempt at smacking Anthony in the Political Forum. Someone´s feathers clearly got ruffled...
Okay, let´s see. The Grateful Dead aka Most Pleasantly Mediocre Group In Music History. Main reason this band are so reverred is...tenaciousness. And the fact they were on that artist/sudience level of: ¨Hey man, you're as cool as we are, now let's groove to some nice, unmemorable music¨ Anthem Of The Sun, American Beauty, and hundreds of Dick´s Picks recordings (I have about 13, actually) Steely Dan Great band but hardly shocking listeners with any unexpected stylistic twists, eh? aka Most Pleasnt Elevator Music Group in History. Dry and pedantic ´brain music´ with hardly any diversity whatsoever You can´t even say they have one or two great outstanding albums: they´re all just ´Good´. The Allman Brothers Band Well, it´s just Southern ´roots´ Rock, isn´t it? Great dual-guitar and dual-drum rythym section but again, always sound they like they were trying to hard. A talented but highly unoriginal band who liked 30-min jams sounds impressive.....but really? Eat A Peach, Brothers and Sisters and errrr.....nothing else.
What is this amateur debate club horseshit? You're taking positions you don't genuinely believe so I'm not going to bother with you
Parliament / Funkadelic Never really bought into all this ´funkteleaquaboogiecosmicnegrofootsiebootylicious´ idealogy. Sounds and looks really fun, but when you strip everything away, its just some black dudes who dropped way too much LSD and tried to remake Electric Ladyland just a bit toooooo seriously. Every album Clinton put out had that vibe of ´if you suck my soul, I will lick your funky emotions´. Ive got about ten albums, from Free Your Mind... and Maggot Brain all the way up to Uncle Jam Wants You and it really does grate when you listen to more than 20-30 mins.
damn, i didn't realise that there were so few good bands from the US :( and you guys made fun of my 'bands from New Zealand' thread!
Three-hits. Couple of good albums. Used to regularly get blown offstage by Little Feat when the two bands toured together The Warner Brothers Music Show tour in 1975. Dave Lee Roth quote: ¨You know what freeze-dried coffee looks like? That´s what The Doobie Brothers sound like.¨
