This scene was JUST for the trailer. And it worked...since they broke box office records this past weekend.

Can anyone take all these deaths seriously?

Loki, Heimdall, Gamora, The Vision all die pre-disintegration and everyone else (Black Panther, Falcon, Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, Drax, Groot, Mantis, Star-Lord, Spider-Kid, Doctor Strange) once Thanos had the Infinity Gauntlet.

But it all looks a bit ridiculous - I bet 80% off them will all be miraculously resurrected for Part2.

Zero shock-value and all completely unbelievable (unless you're like Sly)

Did you watch the actual film or did you get all your information from spoilers?

In the comics Thanos triumphed and then many were resurrected after. So I don’t know why so many people were shocked at the ending. Besides Thanos himself has already shown the ability to resurrect someone using the time stone; Vision. Plus there’s something called the soul stone in the equation and the name of it suggests the potential for reversing death. So it won’t be all that “miraculous “ it’ll be logical according to the possibilities already introduced in the film.
Some people will stay dead though and others will die in the next film. I think Gamora is coming back though.

    Exactly.
So super-hero ´deaths´ should be taken with a gigantic cellar of salt!

The fact is, it takes a certain type of fan to get ´emotionally invested´ with super-hero-based movies...unless, you´re a die-hard, true-believer Marvel fan and always have been before the damn movies came out (e.g. you read the comics as a kid, continued with them as you grew up, kept them and owned at least one of the Marvel Bullpen rankings):

I just can´t get into Marvel movies as I can normal movies - they all seem so conveyor-belt-produced now to the point where I can only really re-watch 3-4 of the whole 19.

In life I hate extremes of behaviour/ideology.

I detest Conformists and non-Conformists alike.
I detest extreme Liberals and extreme Conservatives alike.
Communism and Neo-Con Capitalism are as bad as one another.
People that stick with tradition come what may and people that are Anti-Establishment and equally cuntish!

    It's the same with Movies.

You get these cunts who think they're "hip", "Trendy", "Fashion-Forward" or whatever just because they refuse to praise popular films. You see, they think they're more mature than everyone else because they only recognize films like Citizen Kane, Twelve Angry Men, The Godfather etc. They're just as bad as the cunts who ONLY watch lighthearted action popular popcorn flicks. Both set of people are as bad as one another.

the true genuine people like all types of film and enjoy the merits of each genre. At the end of the day it's art and art takes many forms. I love me some dark gritty foreign language shit. I like Westerns. I like Mafia films. I like Animated Child films. I like Superhero films. I like Tom Cruise Action films. I like disaster films. I just like films.

Same with boxing. Some cunts only recognize contemporary fighters and others who try to pretend that they are know it all s refuse to recognize the merits of contemporary fighters. Both extremes are cunts.

Guys if you're not one of those extremes I implore you to SHUN the guys that fall into either of those extreme categories

Nah, y'all consider yourselves cool and hip and above the rest because you're going against the grain. It's irritating and no one is fooled.

You're probably one of those guys that looks down on people that enjoy popular music as well. In your mind to be a true music connoisseur you have to like shit that's not mainstream. Fuck all who think that way. Guys like that are no different to heavily tattooed and pierced freaks who think they're so cool.

There is good music in every genre (except Heavy metal lol) and there are good films in every genre. If you wish to ignore an entire genre out of principle, it's your loss.

Sly hasn't seen enough films to be considered a film lover.

Superhero movies were okay until the market became totally over-saturated with them.

How many fuckin times can you get excited about the SAME damn storyline over-and-over-and-over-and-over? "Evil, highly powerful being wants to destroy the universe. A group of superheroes must use their collective powers to stop said evil being." How many goddamn times have we seen this story???

Grow the fuck up! Marvel movies are not art. They're money grabs.

In many ways, art is subjective, but you simply CANNOT say that Infinity War is the same kind of art that 12 Angry Men is.

Stafford, in film AND boxing, has long been exposed as a casual masquerading as a hardcore.

"I know not what this Network is. I know not know this Ismael Laguna is. But I bet both are crap, because film and boxing are ever-evolving. I'll tell you what's real brilliance.... Avatar and Calzaghe-Lacy."

Sly is right, you guys think you’re so cool and your argument is flawed. Every shooter/action film, every romantic comedy and lots of other genres follow the same formula too, yet we’ve enjoyed way more films from those genres than we have superhero films.

And for the record movies today are all money grabs, studios don’t give a shit about art, all they care about is profit. Movies today are about entertainment, not art. If you go to a movie to analyze the direction, break down the storyline, examine the camera angles and techniques than you’re right Infinity War is different than 12 AM. However if you go to a movie take in all the visuals, dialogue and performances as one big coherent story like a normal person does, than you’re going there to be entertained and both films are the same damn thing, just different genres.

I think you're both missing the point actually: today's movies are all dumbed-down because that's what the audience is generally: dumb and/or short attention-span.

Something simple but awesome to look at (CGI) with a simple script and some bombastic acting... the eyes & ears dont require much in the way of converting to intelligence or 'emotional-attachment' to form an appreciation.

lb for lb undermines his own point with:

That's exactly the whole point about these silly fucking movies

Which is why the popcorn/drink/food kiosks are adorned full of that particular blockbuster-merchandise & marketing that is showing at that time...
"Large bucket of popcorn? That's $15....because it has The Avengers new movie emblazoned all over the bucket"

You just hate them because they're popular nowadays and you detest the superhero concept. The 80s were filled with mindless action flicks such as Robocop, Commando etc. and so was every era. Some of the superhero films are actually good films. Tight storyline, good performances.

You know that the MCU has featured some of the strongest current and past actors right?

    Anthony Hopkins
    Michael Douglas
    Idris Elba,
    Benedict Cumberbatch
    Kate Blanchet
    Robert Redford
    Jeff Bridges
    Tilda Swinton
    Rachel McAdams
    Josh Brolin
    Hugo Weaving
    Natalie Portman
    Djimon Hounsou
    Chiwetel Ejiofor

    among many others

It's not just about Iron man and Captain America beating people up, there's a lot of good acting talent involved as well.

Because it doesn't require fuck-all exertion in the art of acting: it's a cash-grab for them as well!

It's like doing pantomime on a week off for those people you listed....

One other factor to consider Global homogeneity.
A studio has to take into consideration is the foreign market. It’s become massive.
So the things that travel best are going to be action-adventure, science fiction, fantasy, spectacle, some animation.
Obviously the bigger the budget, the more people this thing is going to have to appeal to, the more homogenized it’s got to be, the more simplified it’s got to be.

Everyone has fucking good taste in their own minds motherfucka! ;)

Non conformists are annoying. A true individual is one that doesn’t feel the need to conform or go against the grain. All genres of film have merits. A good film is a good film regardless of which audience it appeals to. Some kid films are great films as well as some dark grim films filled with gratuitous violence and sex.
