Never got into either... the Jam strike me as more technically proficient but their aesthetic is almost impenetrably English for an outsider like me ... The Clash is more universal I've liked some of what I've heard from The Clash and some of it leaves me cold
The Jam guy later did a peculiar sort of white plastic R&B thing that was kind of fun but I can't remember the name of the band
Ditto, but only after The Jam and before he went solo! I actually prefer Sandinista! to London Calling....albeit, trimmed down.
I'd say both were rated just about right, but it has to be setting sons. The Jam had no great albums IMO, some might point to sound affects, always enjoyed in the city best
I wasn't a fan of either, the only Weller track I actually liked was the one which ripped off The Beatles 'Taxman', was called Start or something like that. Never got into The Clash, but their hits were good.
