The Predator (trailers and discussion)

Doesn’t look great but then again a Predator film is kind of like a Jurassic Park or Alien movie in that it almost takes a concerted effort to screw it up (see Predators).

 

Left me cold. That said I am thrilled to see Olivia Munn in yet another scifi film. She is one of us!

Ugh, you liked that shit? Both of the Alien vs Predator films have certain scenes I enjoy even if both films overall are pretty bad. That Predators film just has no redeeming qualities at all. You got everyone walking around with huge guns but no cool shootouts since their bullets are too weak. You got Brody talking all tough and gruff but comes off as an asshole who lacks empathy and is hard to root for. Then Fishburn shows up and takes the film in a totally different direction because it’s obvious nobody knew what to do with a film, that on paper, sounded like a pretty good concept.

 

Agreed. The franchise should have stopped after II.

 

Only everything, considering anytime you have a rebooted franchise, it'll always be compared to the original film in the franchise.

I wish they would leave Predator alone. God forbid these lazy, money grabbing fucks come up with an original concept.

I'll probably watch it one day.... like a few years from now when it's on a movie channel late at night and there's nothing else on.

But I damn sure won't be seeing it in theatres or going out my way to find it on TV.

 

The one with the mercenaries and serial killers on the 'game reserve' planet was borderline watchable. Avp requiem was total toilet. This looks total toilet.

Yeah, sadly. It was the wife's idea to order it on PPV. Maybe the worst movie ever made.

Even the original is shitty though. But the sequel was so bad it makes ID4 look like Alien 1 in comparison.

 

ya I would never watch that. First one was bad enough. Plus the trailer for the sequel looked very bad. If you can't even get my attention with the trailer you know it is garbage .If my woman recommended watching it I'd smack her over the head with the remote.

Franchises like this always get worse over time. It's inevitable. This one is all but guaranteed to be terrible.

I enjoyed Predator 2. Obviously it wasn't in the class of the original but it was a good sequel.

 

AVP (the first one) was better than given credit for. Of course making it PG13 and taking out the gore was STOOPID and reduced the quality, and making the main character a woman was dumb....but I liked the whole shifting pyramid every 10 minutes "bidness". I appreciated that concept.

 

AvP Requiem was just utterly awful. They tried to hybridize Aliens with "Scream". Just ridiculous.

 

True but if I were forced at gun point to choose between watching AVP Requiem or Predators I’d choose AVPR.

 

They should have casted Cosby as the predator. I'd watch .

 

There should be a movie where an Alien gets a baby from a predator.

 

It was loosely based on the AvP first Dark Horse comicbooks which later was published as a graphic novel. The main character was female too, but Asian and the plot developed in the Aliens planetoid LV-426 where predators went for a safari and found a human colony there. Like in the film the female character is the sole human survivor after she is accepted by the predator to join forces against the alien xenomorphs.

The predators weren't scary though. And how did that Asian samurai manage to go one on one with a predator with teh fight ending in a draw (they killed each other). BULLSHIT!

 

yeh the predators were pretty tame, and didnt seem to use much skill in killing...they should have had a few people get taken out one by one by a predator
