It seems like everybody has forgotten that this fight is on Saturday. Final thoughts? I've got Loma by late TKO in a clinic. Linares is trash. BTW, Mikey is moving back down to 135 and is expected to fight Easter sometime this summer. If Loma-Garcia doesn't get made, it'll be an insult to boxing fans.
I expect Linares' size and aggressive style to cause some trouble for Lona early, so that he gets called overrated
card on hbo too. I pick loma too but not as easily as people expected. The talk will be along the lines that 135 is his ceiling.
I don't expect many people to pick Linares, but he's far from garbage. Lomachenko by stoppage before 6.
The HBO card was suppose to be Sadam Ali vs Liam Smith, but Smith pulled out. Jamie Muniga seems like a decent prospect with power. Ali will probably win on experience alone, but given his shit chin, he's not a lock.
Linares is an angular tall guy with decent power and the ability to gut things out but if Lomachenko is half-as-good as I have been told and is half-as-good as he has looked then he really should be putting this guy away on accumulation and facial damage after about 7 rounds. I think Linares best chance is to make some sort of a war of it but he has a lot of miles on the clock.
Interesting that Mikey is moving back down to 135, wasn't he talking about moving up again to 147, bizarrely? Good though obviously, he is a legit 135er and even at 140 he seems compromised and undersized, let alone 147. As for this fight, well I guess it'll be another Chenko making his foe quit in about 6 or 7 rounds Hopefully Lomachenko - Garcia gets made next.
Beat two UK bums in Mitchell and Crolla, and arguably lost to Luke Campbell, then just beat that Pinoy bum Gesta.
Linares is a credible name to put under the belt. But little else. I'd be surprised if he made a fight of this.
Linares is too hittable to make it a fight. I expect him to quit or get stopped before the second half of the fight.
An interesting piece about Lomachenko's training, dancing and the importance of footwork in the Sports Illustrated. For the lazy ones: he seems to do plenty of sports besides boxing to be the best boxer possible, which is against the traditionalist approach Vasiliy Lomachenko's boxing success is a product of being a great dancer
REED Thinks Linares Can Make it COMPETITIVE (Early) But the Lack of Defense and His Tissue Paper Skin Are Definitely FATAL Flaws Against Lomachenko. In Fact, There’s a Degree of PRESSURE on Lomachenko to Finish Linares, Since He’ll Be Getting Touched Early and OFTEN... REED
You might be right, he's a good fighter. I'm just not sure he's fast enough to compete with Lomachenko.
To Be Clear, REED Means “Competitive” as Compared to Most Lomachenko Fights... REED’s Got Lomachenko By Stoppage In the 6th-7th, and Could See Linares ARGUABLY Winning a Round or 2 in the Process... Regardless, He’ll Be Battered and More than Likely Bloody When it’s All Said and Done... REED
Nah... Stopping Linares EARLY Would Go a Looooooong Ways Towards That, But a DISTANCE Fight Over Someone as Poor Defensively, with the Chin and Tender Skin of Linares WOULDNT Be Good... That’s Why REED Spoke of a Degree of Pressure Being On Lomachenko... REED
To be honest, even if loma looks averahe, theres nibody that can challenge him as p4p nb1 at the moment
I don't think that Loma is CLEARLY the best fighter in the world, although I have no problem with anybody who ranks him #1. I do concede that he's the most talented fighter in the world, but in terms of actual ranking, I think both Crawford and Spence can make a claim for being the P4P #1 at the moment.
I hear ya. I think Crawford and Loma are both neck and neck at this point. Spence is right on their tail.
Yeah, based on his superb resume.... Even an undersized Rigo is a better win than the scrubby Ginger.
Lol Crawford !!!! Crawford!!!! The guy best win is over midget ass Gamboa and a bum in Postol. Loma has a much better resume, and it's not even close. This is waht's sad with boxing fans, they always reward fighter who don't test themselves cause they look great against bums (the Calzaghe and Bute effect). Thurman is miles ahead of him based on the Garcia and Porter wins. And GGG is nowhere near top 1 p4p. The guy had all the trouble in the world getting past decent but far from great guys like Jacob and Canelo. You don't get the top spot by blowing out some cans with style
