It is true, but rules can't (or at least shouldn't) be enforced based upon that kind of criteria. It sucks for GGG of course, but they can't put make some addendum to the rules on paper along the lines "if a clean athlete stands to lose out on a potential big payday due to an opponent's positive PED test results punishment(s) shall be mitigated"
Of course. In a perfect world, Canelo would have to pay Golovkin severe compensation money. In this world, he probably pays 25k and even that goes to the WBC
Well actually that is something they could introduce into the rules. It would be messy and need a lot of work to implement properly but if fighter A is signed to meet fighter B and fighter A tests positive for a banned substances they should required to compensate their opponent. Isn't it already the case if a fighters weighs in over the limit? I'm not talking about cases where the fight goes on anyway and the amount is negotiated between the camps. I mean in cases where the fighter who did come in at the proper weight decides to not go through with it.
I agree it could be a solution worth pondering. The fighter B has passed up other opportunities to fight or to do marketing, so some type of compensation would be reasonable. Also it might prevent some cheating if you knew that you owe your salary to your opponent if you get caught.
Agreed. Much higher risk and the "A side" fighter can't ignore the rules as if getting caught is akin to a parking ticket.
I don’t think Canelo and G would want to have a failed drug test to delay the rematch, making Alvarez look really bad. They could just fake an injury or something, that wouldn’t make Canelo look as bad as he did when he failed the drug test, pulled out of the fight, and then blamed GGG by saying “GGG didn’t want the rematch”.
Never mind, the game 5 is on FRIDAY, which means this wouldn't have overlapped with the fight, which means Clenelo's legacy is in TATTERS
Clenelo is a good fighter.. I actually like him more after the silly "Mexican Meat" fiasco for sure though.. every good fight will be kinda not as meaningful looking back knowing he was playing with his mexican meat
I believe Loeffler. Oscar is such a lying piece of shit, just like his mentor Arum. Golov isn't scared of that cheating Ginger faggot. Why would he be??? He fuckin BEAT the man already! They simply want a bigger piece of the pie this time around (which they deserve) and Oscar wants to give them peanuts. Golden Boy doesn't want the fight. They're content with the robbery draw Alvarez got in the first fight, and will now move on to fight Spike. Can't say I give a shit. Last year, this was the biggest fight to be made in the sport. This year, the superfight the sport wants is clearly Joshua-Wilder... no one cares about the Canelo-Golov rematch.
We knew this along. After the roid bust, Oscar no longer wants this rematch. Clenelo's reputation is in the shitter, and needs to be re-built... starting with that bum Spike. I cracked up when Oscars said "We're calling Charlo." LMAO! I'd love to see Jermall hand Clenelo his 4th loss in September, but no chance GB takes that fight. Oscar and the Ginger are both jokes.
Xplosive, what did Loeffler say? And yeah I agree with you, De La Lovesongs is a fucking joke as a promoter.
“GGG is not afraid to fight anybody in the middleweight division. He made a lot of (financial) sacrifices for the first fight and the rematch. And since the rematch was cancelled he wants a more equitable percentage."
Neil may get his LONG AWAITED dream... cause if the rematch does indeed fall through, Golov will have to fight Derevyanchenko.
I'm sure Munguia would jump at the opprtunity of facing Canelo in September. But no way is Oscar risking the Ginger in that one yet.
Sure, fair enough. Key point being, the rematch was fucking scheduled ffs and about to happen, and it was that little bitch fat legged Ginger who decided to roid up to give himself a better chance against Golovkin. Not surprising at all Golovkin doesn't wanna take shit from those clowns and wants his fair share, plus he fucking beat the man already, clearly.
I would love to see that. Obviously it's possible Canelo is a bit too crafty and experienced for the inexperienced Munguia at this point, but my gut feeling says Jaime would win that. Big, young, gutsy, powerful, with some offensive skill and surely way more stamina than Canelo. The fat legged little ginger would be on his bike for that one too, for sure.
I was half joking. As a Munguia fan, I wouldn't put him in with Clenelo yet... I just know he'd take the opportunity if offered. We'll know a lot more in a year. However, what he showed against Ali displayed that he has the talent to better than Clenelo ever was.
That Ain’t Happening. 40%-45% vs Canelo Would Be MORE than the Lions Share vs Jacobs, Charlo or Derevyamchenko. And a More WINNABLE Fight, to Top it Off. REED
"60/40 and yo ass gets robbed! 60/40 and you gets robbed while I juice! 60/40 and yo ass belongs to the judges!" - Canelo
What is golden boy offering? What was the split for the first fight? What was the agreed to split for the may rematch?
Im not sure what the agreed on terms were for May, but I'm sure Clen was still getting the bigger cut. Golov wants an even split due to Ginger getting caught doping.
