I'm no Marg fan, but there's still no evidence that the man loaded his wraps in every fight... and if he did, the Vegas commission shouldn't exist.

Margarito took OFF his gloves as soon as he stopped Cotto, and was walking around the ring with his wraps in plain sight of every fuckin body. Call me crazy, but I think it'd be human nature for a guy who was loading his wraps to wanna hide something like that by keeping his gloves on until he got to the locker room.

But as for this matchup, the gloves wouldn't matter... size would. Marg is simply way too big and strong for Maidana, and would give him a brutal ass whuppin.

    Margarito TKO 9.

Both still more skilled than Duran, because they fought in the Floyd era.

A certain few members on this forum love conspiracies, but the odds of Margarito getting away with illegally wrapping his hands before EVERY SINGLE FIGHT he had, pre Mosley, are extremely slim. And I was never a fan of Margarito, myself.

Maidana is too small for him, and stylistically is the kind of fighter Margarito would grind down for the long haul.

It speaks to how weak the welter era Floyd and PAC invaded was that the best real welterweight was Margarito and that he was the best opponent either of them fought just because he was a real welter.

It also says a lot that the best real welter got his ass kick d by a featherweight and Ltd I by a guy that was the best welter in the world like 10 years before. And then the phenom feather that was beating up all the average welters got ktfo when he fought another feather weight.

  9. Was Tony Sibson a better opponent for Hagler than Hearns, Leonard and Duran...since he was a "real Middleweight" and the others weren't?

  10. Well to this you could say that.......ah....neverrmind....too easy

No but Margarito was a better opponent than Guerrero, Judah, Maidana, Hatton, etc because he was a real welter weight. I thought that point would’ve been obvious. Who else was around that you’d pick over Margarito?

You can’t say shit. That’s why you said “ too easy”. Welter was so shit that the best real welter was mediocre enough to lose to a featherweight and get destroyed by a premier relic leftover from the last welter era.

The argument that it was a solid division and PAC and Floyd were just that exceptional seems to fall apart a bit when the exceptional feather that’s dominating welters lost to a p4p level blown up feather. It looks like welter so weak smaller elite guys could dominate it.

  13. Yeah but we can play those games all day. Being Devil's advocate:

Hagler was the best Middleweight who lost to Leonard who was a former Welterweight and Leonard had previously lost to a slightly past prime former lightweight....so what does that say about the Middleweights of Hagler's era?

Leonard and Duran didn’t dominate middleweight. Marvin Hagler didn’t get knocked out by by the ghost of Carlos Monzon. Where’s the welter weight Hagler of the era? Antonio Margarito. Lol
