Yaqui gave champs hell but could never win the big one during the best era of the light heavyweights. Can Stevenson overpower Lopez or does Yaqui finally beat a champ?

He would indefinitely KO the Stevenson that fought Jack

Yaqui came frustratingly close to beating great Light Heavies, he didn't do so against leaping pimps... even with the 10 pounds or whatever advantage for Stevenson, he'd still cop a beating from Lopez... different class

Yauqi was a pretty big light heavy, and you have to figure that if he was around today in the 24hr weigh-in era, that he'd coming into the ring 10-15 pounds heavier than what he weighed in at.

So, the pimp wouldn't even enjoy a "functional weight advantage."

    Stevenson beats him imo.

Yes lopez had some great performances, but he also got beat by Scott, who wasnt anything special himself

I dont think he would. Scott wasnt a special fighter. You are overrating the fuck out of him. Hes far from a sure shot to beat stevenson or is in a different class than him. If we are talking about a guy like qawi, then yes i agree, but not scott or lopez

JOM is actually correct about Scott. I don't think he's a lock to beat Stevenson, but I think it's very possible he outworks Stevenson.

Qawi, Spinks, Saad, Galindez, and a motivated EMM, would all stop the Pimp. So would a prime Conteh.

I'd say Johnson could take him as well.

Unless Stevenson lands something that turns Lopez's lights out he'd be in a ton of trouble by the middle rounds.

Scott beat EMM and Lopez, both clearly better than Stevenson

Stevenson is madly underrated. Hes clearly not on the same level as guys like spinks and qawi, but i don't think guys like conteh and the muhamed are lock over him. These are pick em imo

The EMM that beat Johnson and Jerry Martin would destroy Stevenson. Pick em my ass!

Emm was easy to hit. That could spell disaster against a bomber like stevenson

Badou Jack to be very honest isn't very good, and is a pretty limited fighter with mediocre talent. If Stevenson is going life and death with a guy like that, he sure as shit ain't handling Eddie MM.

Huhh??? EMM was easy to hit??? Nothing could be further from the truth. He was actually very solid defensively when he was sharp... EMM falls in the same boat as Benitez and Toney, not always on his A game, but when he was....

He also had a very good chin. If Spinks couldn't put him away in 15 rounds, then Stevenson with his overrated power isn't stopping him early.

As for emm, seeing that scott beat him strictly by being agressive, being physical and throwing lot of punches, i could see stevenson doing the same. Far from a given since stevenson is not really a physical fighter, but i could see stevenson putting emm in a shell and make him be lazy (a tendancy he had)

Stevenson is a bit of a frontrunner and if you get past the early storm he tends to take his foot off the gas. I don't see him stopping EMM early and EMM's counters, pressure and bodypunching would break Stevenson down.

Theres nothing to suggest stevenson is a front runner. Two time he was in a fight that started to slip out of his hands, and both time be made a big rally (against fonfara the first time and jack)

If Stevenson didn't get guys out early he tended to cruise a bit even in his prime. At his best he could put EMM in a shell for a while but he doesn't have the motor to keep him there.
