Saw this tonight: very original and super-suspenseful.
Essential horror movie that understands the genre.

    Highly recommended.

(Rotten Tomatoes again way over the top with 97% while IMDB gives it 8.3/10)

I've heard nothing but great reviews. I'll check it out.

I'd seen a trailer and the wife just said this morning "what about going to see a movie later - that horror with Emily Blunt?"

Other than that, I went in knowing nothing about it.

I just hope I'm not disappointed like last year... critics were saying that "It Comes at Night" was suppose to be this horror classic.... I thought it was a piece of shit.

I have yet to see it, but I'm still looking forward to it.

Hereditary looks excellent as well, and has gotten even BETTER reviews than A Quiet Place. I haven't seen either, but my gut tells me Hereditary will be better.

Looks a bit too formulaic to me: freaky-looking kid possessed by demonic entity.

What makes A Quiet Place so good is it's originality and sheer gut-wrenching scenes of tension.

    Plus, it's almost scriptless.

I plan to see it eventually. But between work and dad life, I've had ZERO time to hit the theatre, and it wasn't yet streaming on the firestick when I checked last week.

Worst case, I might have to wait a few months until it's out on PPV and pay the $6.00 to order it... which I will if I have to.

This film was pure stress!!!!! Just watched it. Good shit though.

In totality it was rather original but it was also reminiscent of “stranger things”, “signs” and “I am legend” in different aspects. I feel that the writer was inspired by all three of those films/tv shows.

Perhaps the most stressful film I have seen in decades....for that alone it deserves an Oscar nod.

Excellent film, not for the faint of heart. The tension could definitely induce heart attack.

I went into the movie knowing very little about it, so the first 30-40mins of silence/Português subtitles were a good test for me.
When the little boy got wiped-out in the first 10 mins when he turned on the space-shuttle at the back of the bridge.....I was like. ´Fuck! It´s on!!´

Of course, this movie had a few plot-holes and oddities like every other movie, but in terms of originality and suspense, it was second-to-none.

Yeah, loved the silence at the beginning and when that cute little boy got it you knew that this film wasn't playin'!

Hey man why you got to be a dick all the time and spoil shit people haven’t watched yet? Seriously this hasn’t even started in Japan yet and you already fucked it up (a bit for me). Hopefully, for your sake, I’ll have forgotten that little spoiler by the time I see it.

Just caught it last night with the wife. Main reason for going is that she's hearing impaired herself, and she tends to just fall asleep during most dialogue driven movies. Thought this would be a good break for her.

She stayed awake fine, but this time I started to nod off during the few lulls in the movie, since I was tired as fuck going into it already.

Movie got me back into it though, and surprisingly the kids did a great job of conveying the tension on screen.

Creature effects were solid, and they didn't overdo or overshow them either, taking lessons from "Alien" and "Jaws".

Nice and economical run time, and they certainly didn't drag out the ending, assuming we knew what the ending would be without having to sit through yet another Marvel movie like grand finale.

    8/10

There's a reason I don't even read these threads for any movie I actually plan to see, until after I see it.

Finally got around to watching A Quiet Place yesterday.

Maybe THE most overrated horror movie I've ever seen in my life, considering its hype. I cannot fucking BELIEVE how people found this to be so good.

Totally mediocre, and forgettable flick... and I couldn't take the aliens/monsters seriously considering they made the same exact fuckin sound as a Raptor. Felt like I was watching Jurassic Park everytime they made a sound.

PLLEEEAAASSEEE.... I'm begging you.... explain to me what in the fuck was so good about this movie?? Cause I failed to see it.

4/10, and I have no interest to ever watch it again.

I plan to see Hereditary next, and I'd be SHOCKED if it wasn't way better than this piece of shit.

And I don't wanna hear that it was "so original" bullshit.

It was a rip off of Alien, It Comes at Night and Signs... only inferior to all three.

And Jesus Christ, why couldn't they come up with an original sound for the monsters? Literally... the same fuckin sound as a Raptor.
