Has anybody been listening or following to this? I have listened the podcast episodes but not voted since I am not on Twitter. The second round voting is now open

Even though this is pretty pointless, I find the concept interesting and it is nice to see what 'casuals' think, compared to us for example. Do you think they have gotten it right so far?

The fighters who have been qualified for the tournament must have fought on HBO at least once, and when you vote for them, you are allowed to follow any criteria you want, apart from who beats whom head-to-head because of size differences.

The fighters were originally seatedn in regions

    Lampley Division
#1 Ali vs #8 Cotto - Ali prevailed by votes of 89% to 11%
    #4 Hearns vs #5 Lennox - Lennox by 51%
    #3 Roy vs #6 Oscar - Roy by 77%
    #2 Pernell vs #7 Chocolatito - Whitaker by 77%

Next round it is Ali vs Lennox and Pernell vs Roy

    Merchant Division
    #1 Duran vs #8 Morales - Duran by 72%
#4 Chavez vs #5 Juan Manuel Marquez - Chavez by 75%
    #3 Frazier vs #6 Pryor - Frazier by 86%
    #2 PacMan vs #7 Tyson - Tyson by 66%

Duran vs Chavez and Frazier vs Tyson

    Kellerman Division
    #1
PBF vs #8 Loma - Floyd by 63%
#4 Holyfield vs ¤5 Michael Spinks - Holy by 95%
    #3 Holmes vs #6 Barrera - Larry by 55%
    #2 Foreman vs #7 Tito - George by 76%

Foreman vs Holmes and FLoyd vs Holyfield

    Lederman Division
    #1 SRL vs #8 Mosley - Leonard by 93%
#4 Salvador Sanchez vs #5 Arguello - Arguello by 53%
    #3 Hopkins vs #6 Ward - Hopkins by 51%
    #2 Hagler vs #7 GGG - Hagler by 51%

Hagler vs Hopkins and Leonard vs Arguello

Apart from Tyson over PacMan I think they have gotten it right so far, although Holyfield vs Spinks is definitely more debatable than the voting suggests.

Reed, are you going to make a similar tournament?

If Mickey Ward had been 6'0 160 I would hazard the gap with Hopkins to have been still present but far lower.

Cotto and Ali, I mean, what?

Stylistically Cotto is a tough fight for Ali p4p. He was the kind of strong but skilled guy who could apply pressure with a solid defense that usually gave Ali trouble.

This is stupid. How are the matchups decided on? Like who "fights" who?

I'm saying, for example, how was it decided that Morales is against Duran? Not sure why you would say I don't care about science. Lol.

I believe the idea was to divide them stylistically somewhat, so that the Merchant division is loaded with brawlers and Lederman with technical finesse for example. Then they gave them seedings so that the biggest names wouldn't meet each other in the first round.

Of course placing them differently would change the outcome too

    This is pretty retarded really

    Ali-Cotto? come on

I agree with Tyson over Pac, Pac is a small little bum who juiced up and beat bums then got SCHOOLED by an old ass Floyd then lied about a sissy injury

Pac vs Tyson is the classic greater vs better argument.

Pac is unquestionably the greater of the two.

Prime-for-prime? Mike was the better fighter, and I say that without hesitation, not giving a fuck what the Pactards think.

Days later, and I'm still laughing that Terp thinks that Cotto would be a tough fight for Ali, P4P.

But knowing him, he probably thinks Quartey beats Ali P4P.

Cassius wipes his ass the fragile faggot Cotto and stops him in a very one sided fight.

I think it's a bit silly to do p4p matchup, but a cotto style fighter would have given a lot of trouble to Ali.

SOME Elements of Cotto’s Style Would’ve Posed Problems For Ali, Certainly, But in a DIRECT Pound for Pound Comparison, Cotto’s Deliberate FOOTWORK, Susceptibility to CUTS and Leaky DEFENSE Wouldn’t Bode Well.

Cotto Also Had a WEIRD Way of Being Hurt By Fighters NOT Considered “Puncher’s”, Necessarily, Like Corley and the Other Ali, Sadam.

Ali Beats Cotto 8.5 Times Out of 10, MINIMUM.

Compare Cotto with Ken Norton. Strong guys that could apply pressure with a decent defense and fight inside gave Ali problems consistently.

Cotto had a decent defense? That's news to me. Defense was always one of Miggy's biggest weaknesses.

Yeah, I’d favor Ali like 7/10 because of Cotto’s inconsistent durability and Ali being more of a winner but that’s the main reason. Not that Ali is leagues better or has the right style.

LOL. This guy is a fucking joke, he really is.

Muhammad Ali ISN'T leagues better than Miguel fucking Cotto????

    Huh?????

Might as well say that Ray Robinson ISN'T leagues better than Tim Bradley.

A consensus top 5 all time fighter in history ISN'T leagues better than a guy who isn't even top 100 all time??? A guy who arguably isn't even a top 5 PUERTO RICAN fighter in history.

    You MUST BE trolling.

You're right. Leagues is too generous to Cotto.

Ali was LIGHT YEARS better than bum ass Cotto.

You've reached a new low, Terp.

Ali beats Cotto 10/10 bruh, unless we're talking about the Holmes version of something.

This comparison and this matchup is an insult to Ali.

Miguel Cotto was simply not very good... I said it his entire career.

    He couldn't shine Ali's shoes.

    agREED On Pre-Exile Ali.

Post-Exile Ali Had MORE than a Few Lackluster Performances Though, and in a 10 Fight Scenario it’s FEASIBLE Cotto Fights a PERFECT Fight While Catching Post-Exile Ali on a BAD Day, Outworking Him to a Close Decision.
