No Last Jedi, please, there is a whole thread about that one. Just the movie(s) you were so highly anticipating to watch only to turn out to be an epic letdown.

Here are a couple of mine:

King Kong (1976) I was anxiously and impatiently salivating with anticipation the release of this film...only to be treated with that stupid campy man-in-a-suit abomination. The music was good, I gave it that and only that.

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace my very first SW film that I didn't love, heck I remained silent in my seat while credits were rolling that my friends were asking me what was wrong, I could only shake my head in total disbelief of what George Lucas delivered. My answer finally came out, "I waited patiently for 18 years...for THIS???"

    Ali
    Noah
    Rocky 5
The last Jedi (sorry but have to mention it)
    Troy
    X men last stand
    X men apocalypse
The lion the witch and the wardrobe

In the last few years, I guess the two most disappointing were Batman vs Superman and The Revenant.

I fell into the hype and had the false expectation that Batman vs Superman would be one of the best superhero movies ever made.... turned out to be mediocre as fuck! Kinda turned me off from the entire superhero genre.

And The Revenant I thought would be one of the best movies made of the 2010s.... once again, turned out to be a mediocre as fuck film.

Hangover 1 was shit. Quite possibly the most overrated comedy ever made. So it was no surprise that the sequel was even worse.

Bad Santa 1 was hilarious, but I would never bother to watch the sequel.

While I wasn't highly anticipating it, I went blindly to watch 'Meet The Fockers' based on how much I enjoyed 'Meet the Parents'. That sequel was boring as hell and totally unfunny and in a way ruined the first one.

Also '2010: The Year We Made contact' was a big letdown. I went with low expectations knowing that director Peter Hyams wasn't a Stanley Kubrick, but his prior film scifi film 'Outland' with Sean Connery, a space Western, whie no great, had 2001-like sets and vibe which made me a bit hopeful. I couldn't believe the piece of shit that passed as Kubrick's sequel. It woud have been better if they never made it as it also bombed at the box office.

I had some pretty low expectations heading in, but when I saw Black Panther that shit bottomed out so hard that I wanted to ask for my money back.

I'm definitely on the short list of black folk who thought Black Panther was a piece of shit.

Prometheus - I was super-hyped for it and I loved the opening scene. I thought it was going to be a special film, and then it just ended up being "ok". It didn't "suck" in my opinion, but I was expecting much more. The crew seemed much stupider then all the other "Alien" movies combined, which kind of did it in for me.

Battle L.A. - Trailer was hot shit, movie was laughably bad at times.

Triple 9 - Another one where the trailer got me, but the movie was just abysmal.

Speaking of Trailers that "got me"....

    Romeo Must Die

From the trailer I thought it was going to be the best action film in cinematic history. I was beyond hyped.

Turned out to be mediocre bullshit. Trailer was very deceiving.

I mean just look at this trailer...

"Covenant" was pure shit. Way worse then "Prometheus", but I wasn't expecting much from it this time around.

Nah bro....I was hyped for this film back in the day. Black Mafia vs. Asian Mafia with Asian guy supposedly having a relationship with the daughter of the black mafia don, and all out war and Jet Li doing shit and beating shit and killing shit. Back in the day that was exactly my cup of tea.

Yeah but that’s how these Kung fu films tend to be, physics defying and shit. Ever watched Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon?

Good thread. Have to think a bit on this. I'm sure it's something from when I was a kid. Maybe that Super Mario Bros movie.

LOL. With Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo, and Dennis Hopper as King Coopah.

I actually liked it as a kid... but I'm sure it's beyond horrible now.

    I dunno why you're shocked.

It's known forum-wide that Sly has a 10-year-old's taste in movies.

We're talking about a guy who said The Lion King was one the 5 best films of the 90s.

Lion King was so good is currently being remade 'live action'...well, CGI ala 'The Jungle Book'. It was criminal that the Academy of Arts & Sciences overlooked The Lion King with a Best Picture nomination. Out of the backlash it received for that mistake then the following year nominated the less deserving 'Beauty & The Beast' as a way to purge its guilt.
