WBSS Final: Usyk vs Gassiev

Any interest in this bout? Happens on Saturday in Moscow.

Usyk was the favorite before the tournament and was mightily impressive when he destroyed Huck but had surprisingly tough bout against Briedis. Gassiev has been excellent so far but might be bit too slow and relaxed to keep up with Usyk.

Yhe cruiserweight tournament has given some great bouts so far and has been clearly better than the super middleweight scrap

 

Holy shit I didn't know it was this Saturday!

I wish Showtime picked up this fight.

I favor Usyk, but it's not a given. Gassiev is a devastating puncher.

Worst case scenario, if you can't find a live stream... it'll be probably be up on Youtube by Saturday night or Sunday.

That's how I watched Usyk and Gassiev's latest fights.

 

I find this fight intriguing but I have no idea which guy will prevail, as I can see two different scenarios for this. Thus, I am forced to make a Sly-like double pick.

Either Usyk out-hustles Gassiev, throws more, lands more and takes a clear decision. Or, Gassiev blocks shots, places his own well, slows Usyk down and drowns him late

 

I'd prefer a Gassiev win.

forget about this matchup though. these guys arent quite as proven as the two vets in the REAL showdown saturday.

I can remember Jake and I having debates on who would win between Harris and Judah. This musta been circa 04. He swore by Harris, and thought that Viv would waste Zab.

In hindsight, as much of a fuck up as Zab was, even he couldn't blow that one. Judah would have KO'd Harris.

Odds were pretty much even. A couple days ago Usyk was around +110. Usyk started -300 before the location was set and people steadily bet Gassiev.

 

Shades of Calzaghe-Lacy here, very one-sided. Usyk may be tempted to go North for more money but I think his lack of pop would be his undoing there, even though he could school plenty of HW's as he did Gassiev

 

Gassiev sucked. Usyk is really skilled but has no power an seems kind of flimsy if you catch my meaning. A guy who’s not as skilled as him but skilled and strong might walk him over.

Maybe he’s strong and tough but he sucks. The reason punchers have trouble with mobile guys is they keep their feet set to punch, but no one told Gassiev that. He has Diego Corrales level footwork.
