Me too. The first one was shit and this one looks like shit too. It’s going to be nothing more than a CGI fest.
Took some heinous (but 100% deserved) beatings on numerous threads by Xplosive & myself. It was like kicking a cripple...huge fun.
Interestimg that Godzilla was able to disintegrate Ghidora after the ashes of Mothra covered him, increasing his size & power. Rodan was a bit gunshy overall. This is one of those movies where you really do want the Titans to annhilate mankind, . 5/10
God, this was fucking awful. I found the first one fun but this is best avoided. Oh one of the monsters is an alien?....now we're in Atlantis in a hollow earth for some reason....Godzilla is ill? No bother, I'll just explode a nuke in his face to wake him up! Sorted. Uh oh- now Godzilla IS a bomb. Just fuck right off. I liked the bit where one of them gave yet another laboured, wrought speech about restoring balance then added that he got it out a fortune cookie. I took that as an exacerbated acknowledgement from the script writers that even they knew this was car-crash-crap. Even the cgi and action direction was terrible. Again, avoid. 2/10
I thought they were subpar, tbh. There were way too many bits where I became conscious of it being cgi, if you get me I thought the action direction was bad too, the geography of the scenes was never clear, just people running from somewhere to somewhere else or shooting from somewhere at somewhere else....something blows up somewhere else a monster steps on something else, people continue screaming. After 20 seconds of trying and failing to get a proper mental map of what's going on you just stop caring.
That is what we get when studios hire Art film's screenwriters to write about a genre they don't give two flying fucks about.
