Tyler Perry's Acrimony

I saw this on the weekend for the first time and quite enjoyed it. Anyone seen it?

 

Tyler Perry is a pillow biter hiding in the closet, so it comes as no surprise you'd enjoy his movies... kindred spirits.

 

The film got pretty bad reviews and it's not a "great" film by any stretch but it had a great misdirection which I appreciated and it was also rather motivational. Anyone seen it? Thoughts?

It wasn't a twist per se in the classic sense...but it was an interesting turn of events, shall we say. Have you watched it?

Spike Lee's worst movie (and he's made a few clunkers), is "Citizen Kane" compared to "Tyler Perry's - Best Movie Ever" (whatever the fuck that might be).

I don’t think Perry is a better filmmaker than Spike Lee, for the record. Of course you knew I wasn’t saying that but still, couldn’t resist responding to your strawman argument lest that became a narrative

Lee has made some great and near great films

 

Do The Right Thing is a classic. I also like Summer of Sam a lot.

No D&M, I haven't seen it, I kind of want to see that serial killer mma fighter he did with the guy from Lost.

 

Lee has two certified classic films - Do The Right Thing and Malcolm X.

Some directors don't even have one.

Get on The Bus is the most underrated Lee movie, and is an excellent film in its own right.

As for Tyler... he's the worst filmmaker who ever lived. Even worse than Michael Bay... which is saying a lot.

Literally THE ONLY Tyler Perry movie I ever found entertaining was Why Did I Get Married. And the faggot couldn't even get that right, because he had to make a dreadful sequel.

Anyway, Acrimony is worth a look. I’m not a fan of Tyler Perry but this film is interesting.

I’m no fan of Spike Lee either but I liked Malcolm X. Spike Lee is obviously the more talented filmmaker of the two but spike lee is so overrated it’s not even funny. Why do people buy into that cunt? His unique directorial “tricks” are so annoying. Who wants to hear dated jazz music in every scene whether the scene warrants it or not? Who wants to see his rat face on the screen? Who wants to see a guy floating down the street instead of walking? Who wants to see a camera circling a conversation all the damned time? Fuck spike lee.

 

Also jungle fever, which is the film that put me off him, aired all of black peoples dirty laundry for the world to see. He should be burned at the stake for his treachery!!!

For the record, I'm sure Tyler Perry is a nicer guy then Spike Lee. That's why Tyler Perry gets competent actors to work for him over and over again in his super shitty films, while Spike Lee has a laundry list of actors and colleagues who say they'll never work for him again.

His most famous "work" is a series of films where he portrays Madea, a "badass grandma" figure (the most played out black American comic trope... like an Irish comedian playing a goofy alcoholic uncle) ... dire stuff

I can't think of a good English equivalent but I'm sure there is one... he makes Benny Hill seem like Monty Python
