A mate of mine is doing this bike race, first day of the race is today. Looks absolutely fucking mental. He's doing alright 15 hours or so in though, in the top 30 out of about 250+ riders.

Having Ko'd rosenborg via sleeper hold it's AEK Athens next Wednesday then. Difficult tie. And that it's been switched from Tuesday is a sizeable pain in my balls given I had tickets for deerhoof that night at the art school; nonetheless, TAKE ME TO YOUR PARADISE I WANT TO SEE THE JUNGLE.

All of whom would be favoured over Rangers in the next round

AEK is a more difficult side to play than you might expect to see at this stage ... won't be easy

But if we win, it's obvious they should just give us the cup because the momentum will just crush all of Europe

Tbf yous seem to be improving pretty rapidly. Defense looks extremely well organised, signings look promising. Be interesting to see how yous hang vs Maribor who are generally pretty decent

Looking at the draw its probable AEK will be tougher than any 4th round opponents....but its little better than 50/50 that we see any 4th round opponents

The only crowds that matter these days are the number of arses parked on East Asian couches

Oh aye, they'll eventually challenge in Scotland again. Maybe even this year at a push. I thought you meant they'd be relevant in Europe again.

Only two possible ways they (and sadly, us) are relevant in Europe again:

    A) We both join the EPL
    B) We join some Transnational "Fuck You" league with all the other gigantic clubs that can't compete with TV and Oil (Benfica, Ajax, Anderlecht, etc, you know the names)

The third is a salary cap and revenue sharing imposed by UEFA which is of course a ludicrous pipe dream

Scotland's population growing by 600% overnight might help too

Yep and the only one that's even remotely possible is option A)

Option B) would be interesting but hard to imagine how such a league would be formed let alone maintained.

If they had voted aye on the referendum and offered free haggis to immigrants it could have happened but that boat has already sailed.

As Ive been saying for years, there needs to be unified lobbying by the teams from smaller leagues for access to the big 5 markets in a 'regional league' format - uk, Iberian, Nordic/Germanic, Adriatic, Benelux/France. Then let the eastern block countries consolidate likewise. And realistically we'd need some sort of 'or else' threat backing that lobbying, maybe even a boycott of UEFA competition. That's the only conceivable solution I can imagine

It's an interesting idea but no way you could get all of the clubs and their respective FA's to agree with it. Boycotting UEFA might be a good start but would only have an impact if multiple larger clubs did and for now it's probably not in their best interests if still making good money.

He probably attends soup kitchens on occasion but orders delivery from some steak and lobster joint and eats it in front of them. All the while lecturing them on how hard work and good old fashioned gumption allows him to afford that meal.

Club football is whole different ball of wax to the international game but there is a similarity in terms of the effectiveness of a boycott.

For example there's been talk about boycotting the Qatar World Cup. (which I'm in favor of)

It really only matters if a number of big powerhouses do it. Nobody will care if Australia, Norway and Ecuador refuse to attend. Likewise if only one big nation like Brazil or Germany boycott there would only be a mild rumble. If however England, Spain, Argentina, USA, and Mexico all told Qatar and FIFA to fuck themselves it would be a whole other story. The WC would still happen and other sides would gladly (and sadly) take their places but not only would the viewership take a huge blow but it would forever be tainted with a massive asterisk.

I'm not watching a second of that despicable shite

I don't care if Ireland or the US make the fucking final, I'm not watching it... it shouldn't be happening especially after all of the FIFA scandals exploded the last few years

Coordination is the key aye. Nobody cares if celtic don't play in Europe but if enough do it in tandem you at least get your greivance on the agenda, if not materially damage the tournaments

If enough teams boycott and the US and Ireland don't that could be a realistic final :D
