You mean to tell me that in a decade that produced Goodfellas, Silence of the Lambs, Pulp Fiction, LA Confidential, Heat, Fargo, Se7en, Glengarry, Miller's Crossing, Schindler's List, Unforgiven, Saving Private Ryan, Boogie Nights, True Romance, ect... that the fucking LION KING is top 5????

Of all those you listed I can pick three that are truly great. The rest are inferior to the Lion King.

 

yeah - phantom menace by a mile. that title has really became horribly apt in retrospect

 

a lot of those movies would never have happened if it hadn't been for the Lion King. they ripped off LK, & mostly did a bad job of it

 

Lion King has always been overrated.

 

Disney has had some great cartoons: The Fox and the Hound, The Jungle Book, Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians etc etc and yet Lion King stands head and shoulders above the rest. Great story, memorable characters and a few very memorable and dramatic sequences (wildebeest stampede, Elephant graveyard etc ). You’ll probably get a few haters that’ll hate on it just because it was a cartoon and is popular, so it makes them feel more mature to cover for their own insecurities, but haters gonna hate

I was 21 when it came out and the job I had then was right near a movie theater... it was a slow night and they were asking if anyone wanted to leave early and I said what the hell, I'll leave and go check out the Star Wars movie... I grew up in that generation, I was feeling nostalgic... thought it'd be fun to see Darth Vader as Anakin Skywalker and all that shit ... I knew there was a little kid part but I didn't know it was the whole fucking film... I remember being impressed with the special effects at first but the novelty wore off quick with such a convoluted storyline, shit wooden acting, a fucking kid Darth Vader being called "Annie", a fucktarded annoying quasi-Jamaican space gargoyle, a cheesy Nü Metal style sith villain, some sort of chaotic Ben Hur space chariot race, just a fucking mess

I left the theater bewildered
