i caught a bit of “geostorm” on the plane to London and had to turn it of in less than 10 minutes. I’ve never seen so much utter shit in my life. Awful.

Are there any worse than that?

Geostorm sucks as there isn't actually a geostorm taking place in it...it has to be the worst

Nah, The Towering Inferno is one of the best!
There was one made a few years after it, set on an island with a similar stellar cast and same director, Irwin Allen: that was pretty bad.

Disaster Films are always garbage; some are amusing garbage but it's not a genre that creates good art generally

The "Airport" disaster films make "The Towering Inferno" look like "The Godfather"

The Poseidon Adventure remains the all the time best disaster film, and certainly is not garbage.

To this day, it's an incredibly compelling film to watch.

Probably because Hackman delivers the best acting a disaster film has ever had.

Disaster films can be BAD as long as they're fun to watch.

The Core, for example, is very fun to watch, despite being dumb as Hell.

2012 was actually decently fun to watch, despite making The Core seem like it was written by a scientific genius.

The Day After Tomorrow wins this distinction because its both bad AND un-entertaining.

The same with San Andreas, which is arguably worse.

On second thought, I changed my mind... Armageddon is the worst disaster film ever made.

Meteor is seriously terrible. Is 2012 the one where they crack a hole in Everest at the end with their daft 'ark' thingy? That film is absolutely hot garbage.
AgREED that Poseidon and The Towering Inferno are the two genre leaders. Both great films.

No way, it's cheesy as hell for sure (Deep Impact was much better imo) but there have definitely been worse disaster films.

I’d say Dante’s Peak and Volcano but take that with a grain of salt because I never actually watched those two movies. I can just tell.

The Rock's gone nuts with disaster moves the past while now. Each one worse than the last.

Not really. All things considered, it doesn't get much worse than Armageddon.

I'm sure most actors have fun making disaster movies, but its very well known that both Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck hated making Armageddon, because they despised working with that waste of life Michael Bay.

    Ive seen both.

Dante's Peak is among the worst ever made, because it's both bad and boring.

Volcano is bad but it's pretty fun to watch. Tommy Lee Jones can make any movie watchable.

Daylight I thought was a pretty good disaster flick. Like a homeless man's Poseidon Adventure, but still pretty good.

LOL, "Geostorm" was pretty fucking bad. Thought there might already be a thread for it for some reason, but I couldn't find one.

Should have re-titled it "Gerard Butler's Shitstorm".

Doesn't count if they make it bad on purpose.

I like a baaaaaaad movie every once in awhile, but I have no patience for these cynical, insincere stabs at a bad movie. If you make a Mystery Science 3000 movie on purpose, it kinda ruins the whole fun of it. It's doesn't even qualify as camp. It's just a cheap cash grab towards "ironic" movie watchers.

I haven't seen Skyscraper, but it cant be WORSE than San Andreas.

Honestly, San Andreas was one of the worst movies ever made, of ANY genre.

I'd argue that Geostorm was probably semi-intended to be bad on purpose.

Armageddon on the other hand, Bay actually thought he was making a quality movie.

Is that the one where he's in the helicopter and then the speed boat the whole movie?

I don't know. "Geostorm" reeked of incompetence to me...............and oddly that's something I can halfway accept in a movie. At least they tried.

Yes... sadly... yes. Even worse, i actually wasted my money and saw it at the movies.

I wanted to slit my wrists about 45 mins in. My wife fell asleep, and I didn't feel like waking her... so I just suffered through it.
