Andre Ward: weirdly enough, i was a pretty big ward fan, even though he was/is a boring fuck. But the way he acted after getting two blatantly corrupted wins over kovalev makes me want to see him get splattered

Wald pussy: saw him first against Phil Jackson and was a big fan. Size, speed, power, technique. He seemed to have it all. But after seeing his outrageous lack of heart (brewster quitjob, flopping against peter for no reason, his shameless holding), turned into one of my most hated fighter. Fitting that he ended is title reign with one of the most putridly cowardly performance ever.

Rj: was a huge rj fan. But i must say that after his carreer was pretty much done, i realised that he was a bit of a cherrypicker, and that he lacked the mental strength to be a true great. Especially disappointing was how he didnt jumped on calzaghe after he floored him hard

I was a pbf fan back when he was facing the best at 130/135.

Tua definitely lost me as a fan after his non-effort in the Lewis fight. From 96-00, I was a HUGE Tua fan. He was my third favorite active fighter at that point, behind only Mike and Roy.

I wouldn't go as far as say I turned on him, because I could never bring myself to dislike him or root against him... but I was never again a big fan.

Can't say I've really turned on any fighter I was a big fan of, maybe Naz after the Calvo fight but he was done, he knew he was done, and it was his last fight anyway.

I stopped watching Pacquiao fights after he'd clearly lost his hunger. Wouldnt say I turned on him though, still one of my favourite fighters ever but I'm not going to stay up till 4 in the morning to watch him dial in a UD.

    Good thread. Unique.

I turned on Roy Jones in a sense. Still a big Roy Jones fan but I was disgusted by his cowardice in the third Tarver fight (and the Glen Johnson and Calzaghe fights to a lesser degree). He could have won the third Tarver fight but was just content to go the distance and even CELEBRATED lasting the distance. What proud fighter is content to merely last the distance? Against Calzaghe he smiled his way through the fight! It's a fight, don't fucking smile...try your hardest to win the damned fight! In terms of Glen Johnson, I maintain that Roy lost heart and gave up. Sure the knockout was a genuine knockout but Roy's heart gave out after 5 rounds of that fight.

I turned on Tito after the Winky Wright fight. I was a HUGE Trinidad fan going back to the days when he destroyed Blocker. But the Wright fight following the disastrous Hopkins fight was the last straw for me. When things weren't going Trinidad's way he had no plan B. He'd just follow his opponent around and do jack shit.

Agreed. That Trinidad performance was so bizarre. I can't believe Winky's jab alone caused Trinidad to continue to reset and he couldn't throw anything at all. Weirdest sh*t I ever saw from a world champion of Trinidad's pedigree. Even Vargas and Mosley did a hell of a lot better against Wright.

I kinda turned on Tyson after the Seldon fight. Probably not Tyson's fault but he started believing his own sh*t despite beating a bunch of corpses and quitters. F*cking set ups. Should've fought Lennox in 96. Would've been a better fight than 2002.

Pacquiao is a strange case. Seems like overnight he went from KOing everyone to not being able to KO anyone.

Somewhat turned on Kovalev for the way he dealt with the adversity he faced against Ward. I just felt that was unbecoming of a fighter with his reputation. I don’t care if a fighter gets dominated for 12 or knocked out in 2 seconds. But to just cave in that way looking for the ref to bail you out when you are the Krusher and at one point in time, the most intimidating fighter of your era, left a bad taste in my mouth.

I must admit, when I first read the thread title I thought JOM was about to recall the time he showed Adonis Stevenson his ass!

Some fighters deserve to lose fans, especially when they display cowardice.

I agree about the whole “smiling” thing. I hate when fighters turn “ nice”.

Come to think of it, I think I will make a new thread out of it.

The notion that because you once liked a fighter you must never changed your opinion of him is very juvenile. These guys are not my friends nor part of my family. I dont owe them any loyalty

True. Not that anyone wishes any ill will on fighters I'm sure. But there's nothing wrong with changing allegiances.

It’s a Clear FLAW In Your Character.

At the 1st Sign of Trouble and Adversity, There You Go Jumping Ship.

Friends and Family are Typically Judged Even HARSHER Than Those We Don’t Know. We Expect MORE From Those We Know, But In YOUR Case We Can Expect Your TURNCOAT FAIRWEATHER Nature to Rear it’s Head Even Sooooooooner.

Loyalty on ANY Level, to ANY Degree is Better Than Being a Turncoat, FAIRWEATHER FAG.

Unconditional loyalty to God, that I understand. To immediate family, I can accept. But to anyone else...fuck that.

I think when it comes to fighters....our loyalty shouldn't be based on whether they win or lose...in that case I agree with REED. But when it comes to character on display, I think it can be justified.

loyalty to fighters lol that's some groupie shit. Those people do not know you. You guys do realize there's a HIGH chance this fighter you were loyal to for say 20 years.. defending them on message boards for years... would walk past you if they saw you and if you asked for a picture they could very well say get away from me you fucking idiot..... loyalty to strangers is creepy as fuck

    Loyalty is Loyalty, w/Out Condition...

You're Either PREGNANT or You're Not...You're Either LOYAL or You're Not...

REED was No Less DISAPPOINTED in Roy-Tarver III Than You and as Roy Stubbornly Refused to Retire, REED Watched Fewer and FEWER of his Bouts...Referenced Him Less and Less as Well...

But @ NO Point Did REED Publicly Excoriate Roy On a Boxing Site, The Way YOU Did...

Loyalty Doesn't Mean You Can't Be Disappointed In or Upset w/Someone or That You Blindly SUPPORT Their Foolish Endeavors...Doesn't Mean They're Always Right...

But Throwing a Fighter Under the Bus, AFTER the Fucking Fact, is the Antithesis of Loyalty...

    agREED...

In the Case of an Edwin Valero, Floyd Mayweather, Antonio Margarito or Even Deontay Wilder to a Degree, it's Easy and Understandable to See Why Fans May Have Switched Allegiances...

What Does AGE Have to Do w/Your Ability to Care?

Sure, REED'll Never Care for an INDIVIDUAL Fighter Again, The Way he Cared for Roy Jones, but REED Cares No Less for the Sport Itself...

REED Will Safely ASSume he's Older than You...Wife, 3 Daughters, Son-in-Law, 2 Grandsons...Even w/All That Chipping Away @ Free Time, REED Doesn't Care Any Less about Boxing...

You started hating Lennox after he didn't show proper etiquette.
