Pretty looking movie. Very faithful to the tone of the original, and I'd say "objectively" a better put together and more coherent film then the original.

That said, the original will always be much more memorable, because there were memorable scenes it it. I'd say both Harrison and Sean Young sucked in the original, but there's nobody even remotely as memorable as the Rutger Hauer character in the new one.

I'd watch the new "Bladerunner" again, before I go and force myself to set through the original again, but I can't bring myself to rate it any higher, simply because the first one is a much more important movie for the time period it came out.

    7.256/10

The director, forgot how to spell his name, went too overboard trying to make this thing "smart"... as a result it's a pretentious film imo.

It's a shame, because I thought Arrival was superb, which he also directed.

The "Bladerunner" franchise is "pretentious" in general. Comes with the territory. I don't know how long it's been since you've seen the original, but it's a fuckin' muck to get through. 2 hours long, but it feels like 6.

I re-watched the original pretty recently.... like late 2017 I wanna say.

I've always thought the original was a little overrated, but I just feel it was better made and more easily digestible than 2049.... which honestly I wanted to turn to off after awhile but I stuck through it.

I hear ya'. Neither of them are really easy to get through. I just find the more recent one a little more polished. Not necessarily "better"....................

Can you explain to me again what prompted you to give this a 7.256/10. Only positives you mentioned was it was pretty and true to the original and I don’t get how that makes for an enjoyable or good movie.

You want me to explain it "again"?

Just read what I wrote twice, and you'll have your answer right there in front of you.

I enjoyed this in the cinema but I've had no urge since to rewatch it which says a lot...especially since it has a plot which kinda demands rewatching.

I read it two or three times from the start, I just thought maybe you didn’t go all in on the review you wrote but judging by your response you did. 7.256/10 for being pretty, coherent and true to the original, got it, just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
