Actually I think the reason for Canelo fighting at a higher tempo was the fact that he stalked GGG. Last time he wasted too much energy using his legs. Also by driving GGG back he was able to dictate the pace. So it proved to be a very smart strategy

It's rather amazing that Alvarez fighting a higher tempo still consisted of him being very clearly outworked ... the lily is being gilded a bit here

Can anyone recall two fights where the same guy landed more punches both times and failed to "Win" once??

    It's bullshit.

Tonight was rigged, Canelo is a fucking cheat.

Any other sport would DIE if it had scandals like this.

Didn’t care much for neither fight...I don’t want to see part 3-D anytime soon. Let Canelo fight Jacobs or something...or Lemieux or that other white kid..

I just cannot get over it. It is fucking staggering.

"Canelo takes a good punch. He must be winning".

Is that how these fights are scored???

It was telling that GGG walked off and didn't do an interview. He knows the score. He should take his money and leave the country.

OK just to recap this sad fucking saga

    1. The first fight involved a judge who gave it to Canelo 118-110, that's 10 rounds to 2.

    2. Then the rematch is delayed after Canelo fails a drugs test. Twice,

    3. Then the younger man gets a year off, starts fast, fades, gets bashed down the stretch in the rematch.

    4. In both fights, Canelo lands fewer punches.

    5. THe rematch in both cases is scheduled for a Mexican holiday.

I didn't think this was a particularly "bombs away" fight... there were some nice shots landed but it was hardly a war... just a good, physical tactical match

Nah bro he’s the golden cash cow.

Similar to De La Hoya in the 90s.

That’s why he gets away with it.

Canelo is better than given credit for amd he is still just 28, meaning he is likely to just hitting his prime. GGG is 36.

This, added to the fact that GGG's style suits Canelo well and that Canelo was lucky with the judges twice, and just maybe GGG wasn't exposed for a fraud. In fact, maybe Canelo isn't a fraud either

Nonsense. Neither Trinidad nor Hearns beats GGG. Ironically both have a good chance against Canelo (styles makes fights) but given Canelo ‘s chin, resolve and power (as displayed in this fight particularly) there are no guarantees either since both hearns and tito were vulnerable to hard punches and usually won because they badly hurt their opponents.

It wasn’t a hagler hearns round 1 or corrales Castillo type war, but it wasn’t just a tactical match either. It was a tough bruising affair and both men were throwing hard shots.

    Canelo Won...

Triple G Won the 1st Fight, REED Predicted Triple G to Win the RE, but Canelo Won...Period...

Just as he Did in the 1st Fight, Triple G Started the RE Slowly...More Than That, He Spent MORE Time Than REED's Ever Seen, On his Backfoot...Canelo BROUGHT the Fight to Triple G for the Vast Majority of It and VISIBLY Affected Golovkin w/Bodyshots...Dude Was Bending @ the Waist and Kept His Guard VERY Low, to Offset the Body Punishment He Received...

Prior to Round 8, Abel Sanchez Even Told GGG He Was LOSING, Because He Was...And While Triple G Won Most of the Rounds from That Point, Canelo Made Him Look ORDINARY as Fuck Up Until Then...

Abel Sanchez Had NATHAN for Triple G btwn Rounds...Abel was VERY MUCH Exposed Tonight as a Trainer...Had NO Adjustments or Tactical Shifts to Offer His Fighter @ All...

Abel Chastised Canelo for NOT Being "Mexican" Enough, But Canelo was MORE "Mexican" Than Triple G Tonight for Sure...

alvarez fought very well but i thought he lost. still, this was the most impressed Ive been with him in any fight in his career. he showed more toughness than in any other and he has improved skill wise over the years.

other than the obvious financial aspect, i dont see any reason for golovkin to take a third fight. surely he will if its offered but what can he really do any differently or better to get a decision. he's only getting older and if alvarez can duplicate this performance he may finally get a deserved decision in the next fight. golovkins noticeably slower than he was a few years ago.

Floyd Mayweather should come out of retirement and face Canelo instead of Pacquiao.

Hearns and Trinidad both beat Canelo.

Canelo might go the distance with Trinidad but he definitely gets KO’d by Hearns.

This version of Golovkin doesn’t beat Trinidad and Hearns either. GGG isn’t in his prime anymore.

I thought GGG won more clearly than the first time. Another good fight tho, both guy come out with credit in my book. GGG should probably retire, dude's 38
