I thought GGG won it through the Championship rounds but it was pretty close.

Of course he showed more toughness. He took a year off, his opponent already an old man got a bit older and then Canelo took some..........

No idea why anyone is a) outraged or b) in disbelief at Canelo winning.

    A few points:
    * Golovkin has clearly been on-the-slide since Jacobs
    * He didnt or couldnt be the aggressor he promised to be in fight II because Canelo a) was more agressive and b) often had GGG on the back-foot or retreating
    * Canelo sucked up GGG's power better than anyone expected

    Re-watch the fight.
You can’t judge a fight by compubox numbers. Two guys pressing numbers is all it is.
I hate when people act like it is the end all be all when it is just as flawed as any other means.
No unbiased viewer can complain about the result - GGG was on the retreat a lot of the fight except R10 and Canelo took most of his jabs on his gloves. In close rounds, judges go for the boxer showing the most aggression, NOT how many medium effect jabs a fighter has landed: this has been the case since at least the early 1990s, but many out there don't seem to have caught up with this reality yet.

I always picked Golovkin to win this one but Canelo really impressed: some very close rounds that could have gone either way but imo, Canelo's far better body work, sharp counters and overall aggression stole it for me...just.

It was a tough fight to score, no outcome would have been a robbery.

I thought Canelo had a commanding lead through 8 rounds and then GGG came on strong. 12th round was close but I thought Canelo edged it, securing the win

I rewatched the 12th and cannot give it to Canelo. That's the fight right there.

There were 72 individual scores over the two fights.

3 judges each rendering 12 scores over two fights.

Add them up and see how many of the 72 scores were awarded to GGG and how many to Clenelo.

I didn’t score the fight but I was expecting a draw before the cards announcement. It was a very good fight, props to both. GGG has obviously slowed down but he dug deep during the last third of the fight and I felt it was an impressive display of willpower. Canelo impressed me a lot too, I didn’t expect him to be able to sustain the rythm he fought at for the whole fight. I don’t understand the hate some have for him, he’s a very good fighter with excellent technique and he’s very tough, a surefire hall of famer IMHO. At 28 he’s still has many years to build on what he has already achieved.

Bottom line: props to both fighter, both derserve praises for the fight they gave us.

I’m sure he’s been tested 24/7 since the PED scandal. I think the reason he had more stamina is because he didn’t waste energy using his legs.

Lederman also gave Canelo the 11th which was clearly GGG's.

    No.

By my reckoning, out of 72 available scores over the 2 fights, Judges gave Canelo 40 and GGG only 32.

That's over 11% more for Alvarez than for Golovkin.

    Fucking madness.

I really don't care what people say, so far as I am concerned, a concerted effort was made from day one of the first fight right up to the present to make sure Golovkin did not walk out of there with a win on either occasion.

It all boils down to money, prestige, marketing, etc etc.

Being Off the Juice Also Decreased Canelo’s Muscle Mass (Noticeably), Which Seemed to Help His Stamina.

Listen, look beyond the "Results" {of the fights and the drug tests} and just focus on what I said.

    3 judges, 2 fights, 12 rounds...........72 indivudual scores.

    Canelo got 40 of them.

    HOW???

Get 24 judges in 24 rooms with no idea of the outcome etc.........give each of them a round to score, see what happens.......you see Canelo get over 13 rounds on average?

Mostarda, do you really fucking think I waited until a White Mexican with a Red Beard and an Irish mother came along to start harping on about corruption and Mexicans?

    Please.

Yes, yes, I confess..........it's all a ruse to support central-asian mongols.

He lost the first fucking 3 never mind won 7 of the first 9 lol

I couldn't give him the 12th, GGG started that round better and Alvarez never wrested the initiative away from him.

If you think GGG won the first 3 rounds then your scorecard lacks credibility. Canelo clearly won the second round for one thing and the first was arguable

    Canelo
    Canelo
    Canelo
    Canelo

    The first was a jab-fest. I think Canelo throw 3-4 power-punches.

Add me to the Golovkin won camp. Close but clear and I actually laid money on Canelo on points. When it went to the cards, I thought that was
goodbye as far as my bet went, because I thought they'd overcompensate in Golovkin's favour if it was close this time.

So sort of pissed off for the sport's sake, but happy for my wallet's.

The two Canelo-Golov fights are like a more entertaining version of the two Taylor-Hopkins fights.

In both cases, I had the old champion winning both fights, but the younger guy was awarded both on flash.

It was a close fight. Anyone screaming robbery is making the word "robbery" as it is utilized in boxing, irrelevant and taking away from the many boxers who have been truly "robbed."

Put me in the Canelo won camp. Ring generalship, landing harder shots and more of them, just look at their faces at the end of the fight, and GGG not adapting enough until it was too late.

GGG camp had no game plan. Canelo's did. Which brings me to this...

For the conspiracy theorist, why would Canelo fight with this game plan if the judges were on the payroll? He made himself wayyyyy more available to get ko'd which takes the judges out of the result.

Oh and go Rockets! And Astros! And Texans!

Speaking of officials on the payroll, James Softden clearly has a few refs on the payroll, so he and Canelo have something in common.

Well, at least Canelo wins. Harden and Paul are career failures.

Now we know for sure why GGG didnt want to move up to face jack. He would have gotten runned over.

He has a nice style, but hes one of the most overrated fighter ever
