Povetkin started well, though I am not sure Joshua was actually hurt in the first. Now Joshua is in control

That was a great finish for AJ. His skillset is not all that, but he has power, and he believes in it

Joshua is shit, write it in stone now, he loses to the first guy with the size and freshness to expose his now glaringly obvious flaws, which are manifold.

 

No he doesn't he just has a load of years of fights under his belt, he was older and a bit worn, that's all.

Joshua has power and very good finishing, but he's a shit boxer,. period.

 

Great stoppage from AJ but his performance up to that point was shite. He was losing that round, prior to landing the KO punch.

People on Twitter sounded like McGregor fans. A boxing match isn't decided in three rounds.

Joshua had some early trouble, nothing serious there. He adapted, controlled since the 4th and finished

 

AJ looked shit but that was a great finish.

 

Fury at his best is still the number 1 guy in this division IMO.

AJ is regressing. He’s not getting better. Might be time to make a change in the corner.

 

One of the judges had Joshua 59 - 55 up on the card. Scandalous.

The basic flaws have not been addressed. He looks like a powerful amateur. He is not progressing. His footwork is atrocious. He has NO ANSWER for the short inside game other than to back off and try to go back to his own long-arm tactics. And he relies on opening up when the other guy is tired, it's where Joshuas power is most effective.

 

People talk about Germany, but the worst decisions I have seen in years have all be in the USA and England, simple as.

59-55 is a fucking joke.

 

Only one part of that sentence is actually true.

No not really.

It's been all very very shabby since he fought Wlad, and that result masked a patchy performance in itself.

 

You simply could not give Joshua any more than three of the first six rounds. Povetkin needed to literally kill Joshua to get a win in that.

to be honest it was really not too serious... Wlad's been in worse trouble against lesser people.

 

One of the most aggravating things about British boxing in the past 10 years or so has been the total and utter disappearance of any semblance of honesty from the sport.

Both in the ring and out of the ring the sport has degenerated into a pesthole of vested interests and narratives.

 

He didn't lose no 3 straight rounds to Povetkin and had him on the mat inside 2 rounds.

 

Since he 'stepped up' his comp (and let's be frank, the talent pool at HW is hardly deep) he's looked fairly average. His performance against Parker was hardly impressive - he basically won by being much bigger than Parker. I had him behind against Wlad at the time of the stoppage. A 39 year old midget made him look clueless until AJ found a peach of a shot.

And even against Wlad, he wasnt impressive at all. He managed to outlast a guy made of papier mache and with less courage than the cowardly lion.

It was a great win, but it wasnt a very impressive one
