I can’t shake the feeling that Fury is about to be exposed big time. Sure Fury moves very well especially for a big man and wilder is a limited guy with power but I just feel that Fury can’t take a big punch and wilder won’t be hugging and negative the way Wlad was. I think fury wins the first round and perhaps the second and then gets bombed out
Unfortunately, all sense and objectivity go out the window when Sly discusses a) Roberto Durán and b) Joe Frazier (both for obvious reasons). Frazier had serious trouble with precisely one taller, heavier, stronger boxer - arguably the heaviest hitter in history - and that guy dropped him hard eight times in two fights and still didn't outright KO him. Frazier would have been a total nightmare for Robotshua to deal with.
JoM said that he criticizes Joshua for looking like a robot, and NOT for getting tagged. Imo, it is more important if the fighter struggles and gets tagged too much, not how he looks while it happens. Here, Joshua didn't struggle too much considering that he fought the #3 ranked contender, thus I don't see a big problem with his looks either
For sure. As is the skill difference between Frazier and just about all heavyweights today. AJ is a big man, but his power, while good is far off from a young Foreman, and because he doesn’t come out looking to bomb away early doors, that makes a blow out in favor of AJ unlikely. AJ’s flaws are similar to Khan. Fights stiff, moves in straight lines. Has a better chin than Khan, for sure. Khan probably has better stamina. But AJ’s defensive lapses are glaring.
Wow careful there. Haven't you've heard UGTBK. A fighter flaws and deficencies are irrelevant when it comes to judging his worth as a fighter.
No, what I said is that the MAIN reason why we criticize him, is because he looked like a big shitty robot once again. I'm certainly also criticizing him for getting tagged at will by a fat old povetkin, especially snce he was looking as lost and confused as a finnish virgin at a whore party while doing so But, anyway, I don't want to be too hard on that wall-e looking mf. While he has a ton of flaws, he also has some pretty big upside. A guy that huge and powerful with such self confidence will be pretty hard to beat, bar by the elite.
I know..........I saw the same thing in work with our boss. Black guy. Nice guy. Knows as much about boxing as I do about Animal Husbandry. Fuck all. Says to us this week "Is anyone watching the fight, innit, Joshua gonna win, innit, have a bunch of guys coming to my house, innit" Never watched a Klitschko fight, a George Groves fight, a Calzaghe fight, a Froch fight.......ever. Not once in his life. Joshua comes to prominence, suddenly he's a boxing fan. I tell a lie. He's watched one Groves fight. Have a guess against who............
I have a problem with guys who get hit and sort of wait for the other guy to tire and for their size to tell so they can start doing their own thing. It's like watching an oversized, over paid Arturo Gatti. The difference is, everyone knew Gatti was an accident waiting to happen and didn't try to tell us that we were looking at Sal Sanchez II.
He gets tagged because he is fundamentally poor at boxing, a flaw which is aggravated by his robotic herky jerky motions.
Fury is by far the best boxer of the three but the weakest puncher. Wilder is by far the biggest puncher of the three but the worst boxer. AJ is basically somewhere in the middle. Either way, makes for interesting fights. I was entertained.
You’re correct but you have only mentioned boxing ability and power. You have to also factor in durability and heart. Fury hasn’t been tested in that department as yet but the other two have and have passed the test.
Fury has been dropped and came back to win on both occasions, he's shown heart albeit not against the same calibre of opposition.
Yeah but that's the problem...he's already shown vulnerability and against much lesser opponents. Wilder came back against Ortiz and AJ came back against Whyte and Wlad. Fury could literally get exposed BIG TIME against either of those two. No telling how he'd deal with that level of adversity.
Yeah but by the same token Wilder has shown he can be outboxed by lesser fighters than Fury. He also didn't need to show the same heart AJ did against Wlad because he didn't get himself into such a mess in the first place.
I think Wilder’s power is being overrated. Yes he KO’d Ortiz but that was more to due with Ortiz’s exhaustion than the power. And it will be harder to land that right hand with LEVERAGE against someone like Fury who matches him in height and reach and is a master at keeping the right distance. Fury has also come a long way from the days of fighting the likes of Cunningham where he wouldn’t always take the opponents seriously. I honestly doubt he makes those mistakes with Wilder and I don’t think one punch from Wilder gets it done with Fury. He’d have to break him down.
This is where we disagree I guess. I don't see being tagged a couple of times by the #3 contender being worse than getting tagged by Briggs, Weaver, Cooper or Mildenberger
Indeed, No Sect of Fans Specialize in Perpetual Misery Like BOXING Fans... When Fighters Make it Look Toooooooo EASY Fans Bitch About Them LACKING Heart and Championship Intangibles, Never Weathering Adversity... And When a Fighter Dances in the Rain, So to Speak, Weathering Adversity, Coming from Behind On the Scorecards, Rising from a Knockdown or Fighting Thru a Shattered Nose, He's a "Robotic Scrub"... Joshua Got Hit a LOT By an Even Handed Puncher w/POP, But Even the FACT his Chin Held Up CAN'T Seem to Be Appreciated Around Here... REED's Even Read Criticism of Joshua Breathing from his Mouf' Early Doors....Uuuuuh, YEAH!...His Fucking Nose was USELESS for Breathing Purposes at the End of the 1st. Say What You Will About Joshua, the Motherfucker Has NUTS. Most Trainers Wouldn’t Want a 6’6 Dude to Give Away Height as Joshua Did Throughout (It’s Dangerous), But Changing Levels is Precisely WHY Joshua Did What No Other Man Has Done; KO Alexander Povetkin. Povetkin was Preoccupied with the Stabbing Left Jabs to the Body and Was a Sitting Duck for the Right Cross to the Head...Beautiful Combo That Joshua Was Setting Up the Entire Fight. With Just 22 Bouts Under His Belt There’s Faaaaaaaaaar More RIGHT w/Joshu Than There Is WRONG. REED
REED you have just singlehandedly rescued this thread from the lunatics who are running the asylum. Well done sir.
While I think some of the Joshua criticism is warranted I agree with the overall theme of your post. A fighter takes out a slew of opponents like a hot knife through butter and it's only because all of the opponents sucked. They fight the best opponents in their division and don't do it in completely one-sided fashion it's because now they suck. Also we want more competitive fights.
Don't forget about the posters who don't care about the heavyweights. So much so that they'll make a post saying they don't care about the heavyweights in every heavyweight-related thread so you understand that they don't care about the heavyweights. Just in case you missed it the previous 200 times.
I've given plenty of credits to AJ for his performance. But let's also not pretend that there was nothing to criticize about it
Yes, I hate cunts like that. There’s a certain poster on this board that’s prone to that type of silliness
Apparently 6’6”, 250lb Joshua taking 7 rounds to knockout a a guy that’s never been stopped before means that it’s guaranteed that he’d be knocked out by 5’10, 205lb Joe Frazier that’s been dropped like a bad habit on at least 10 occasions.
Hearn: Wilder Must Agree Now, We Won't Wait Until Fury Fight! Eddie Hearn Back to his Brand of Bullshit, Trying to Pressure Wilder into an Agreement for April 13th PRIOR to the Fury Fight. Hearn KNOWS It Doesn’t Make a Lick of Sense to Sign Shit Until All the Wilder-Fury Money’s Been Counted, Yet Here He Is Making Demands Anyways. Fuck That Dude. REED
Hearn is scared of the Wilder fight. It's 120% obvious. AJ probably doesn't fear Wilder, but he's complicit with all of Hearns' bullshit, therefore, Eddie: "He's accountable. Same as you."
Fury gets hurt and dropped when he's acting the mong. Steve Cunninham might only be a 200lb fighter but he took an absolute free shot vs Fury.
