    Inspired by double thread.

Speed is generally one of the main attribute of top fighter. But some were able to be ATG while being relatively slow.

Spinks and Foreman are probably near the top

Present day Canelo and Danny Garcia are both very good given their lack of blinding speed.

  3. Canelo isn’t a good example as he’s not slow. He has faster hands than Golovkin for one thing.

George Foreman is a good example

  4. Hagler.

Definitely wasn’t blinding speed. In the Hearns fight it was clear that tommy could throw two punches to Marvin’s one.

I wouldn't call Canelo nor Hagler slow. They are not necessarly speed merchant, but they ain't (weren't ) slow

Ricardo Lopez was slow as molasse for a strawweight. Little red lopez was also very slow, though calling him a great fighter is probably a stretch.

Arguello was a weird one. While he was slow most of the time, he threw these ultra fast bombs unexpectedly once in a while

Arguello is by miles the greatest slow footed fighter ever... his footwork was good in terms of placement, balance, etc. ... just really slow

    Hagler was not slow.

Foreman applies but I guarantee in the ring he isn’t as slow as he LOOKS.

It’s hard to reach elite level without decent speed:

Hagler was definitely not slow and he was technically superb

    Panchyprsss Clogg's LORD PROTECTOR

Old Big George was the king. Knocking out Michael Moorer with a punch that was as fast as a granny in a walker crossing the street is the best testament of his slow greatness.

Marciano and Foreman are the two correct answers.

    Vito wasnt no great fighter.

If anything, Lamotta should be mentioned before Vito.

Vito's only real talents were durability and tenacity and yet he managed an excellent career and was the undisputed middleweight champion... obviously not a great fighter but it's hard to think of a fighter who got more out of less

spinks was slow at 175. Especially when you compare him to the other great lhw

Slow as fuck, so slow he made Leonard and Hearns look fast.

Danny Garcia now applies. Not that he is a great fighter. But he over achieved. For all his limitations, he made quite a career for himself.

  20. I don’t mean to say that Hagler was slow...as in slow as fuck, just that he was relatively slow...as I thought that’s what the topic was about. For a great fighter, middleweight especially, Hagler wasn’t fast. Tyson, Ali and a few other heavyweights had faster hands than middleweight hagler. That’s all I’m saying. Hagler was bladdy gifted and a great boxer but he was not a FAST fighter.

    He wasn't "relatively slow"

  22. Which GREAT fighter below heavyweight did Hagler have faster hands than?

  24. Watch Hagler vs Minter, which features a prime Hagler and then watch Hopkins vs Tito; two guys that while not slow we’re not known as blazingly fast fighters either. Also Hopkins was slightly past prime by that point. You will notice how much faster Hopkins and Trinidad are. Don’t take my word for it, check it out yourself.

  25. Perhaps. But that’s about it.

Has to be old Foreman for beating Moorer. Honorable mentions to Carlos Maussa who is probably slower than Foreman and won a title and Steve Little who beat Nunn for a title. I think Little was slow, but I know he was terrible.

  28. Watch Hagler vs Minter everyone.

Hagler was great and he was dominant with endless stamina m, good boxing skills and indomitable will...but he wasn’t fast

There's not some binary choice between FAST and SLOW

18 year old Sly is much faster than 18 year old Clogg yet 18 year old Sly is molasses compared to Usain Bolt

That doesn't make Sly SLOW ...

  30. Ok but In that case this thread is pointless because no championship level fighter below heavyweight is slow. We may as well just talk about heavyweights then.
