Not saying his presence would have made any difference at all in HBO Boxing's Demise, but the quality of HBO telecasts damn sure went down the drain once Merchant was gone.

For all the shit we gave Larry's drunk ass, he was HBO Boxing. Not Lampley, not Foreman, not Roy, not Manny.... Merchant was the lifeblood of the team.

True. But for me not having to pay for HBO more than offsets the "sadness."

It has been a long slow death. HBO has been on life support as soon as Bob Arum signed with ESPN. Therefore I am not sad. HBO's fights and commentary team are levels below Showtime in 2018.

ESPN+ now has over 1 million subscribers. I guess streaming is the way to go.

Roy Jones was a guy who took the path of least resistance to make the most money during his prime years on HBO. The past decade as he got old and lost his speed and skills, he's been open to fighting just about anyone for a paycheque.

Not overall. Only Mauro Renalo is annoying. But it evens itself out, because although Renalo isn't as talented as Lampley, he's also not a sickening company shill the way Lampley became in the 2000s.

Al Bernstein is better than Max. And Paulie has become better than Roy, as Roy in recent years also became a company shill.

There was a time when the gap in HBO's favor was HUUGGGGEEE. Lampley/Merchant/Foreman was light years ahead of the putrid team that was Albert/Czyz/Pacheco.

I couldn't care less to be totally frank. I don't have an emotionnal attachment toward any company, no matter how long it been part of my life (as long as I can get what I want from another company).

And, as most have said, the announcing crew of HBO had turned into a complete and total disgrace. Not having to see that annoying, biaed bug eyed cunt spewing bullshit anymore is a positive in my life

are you suggesting HBO go from being known as Home Boys Only to Homo Boys Only?

not sure about that. Here one of the biggest channels dropped out of boxing because Abraham couldn't draw 4-5 million viewers anymore. 1.79 would have been disaster ratings. and we have like a quarter of your population.

    Put it This Way...

ESPN is THE Largest, Broadest Purveyor of Televised Sports on the Planet...Solely On the Strength of Lomachenko's 1.79mil Rating, ESPN Gave Top Rank a 7 Year EXTENSION to the Contract Already in Place...

Will be interesting to see hbo's final broadcast...if the bias will finally be put aside.

Question is if this will hurt GBP.

HBO’s Reluctance to Deal w/Haymon HASTENED HBO’s Demise. Top Rank Leaving Only SEALED It.

    A funny thing about that.

In the 90s Fuji and Konica competed in selling films for regular cameras. Konica attempted to make the pictures look a realistic as possible, whereas Fuji's colours were over the top in brightness. Fuji won the race.

HBO has used the same formula. Their colours and sound effects are not actually realistic, the fight looks BETTER from the TV than it would look live.

HBO boxing presentations always looked sort of movie-esque. Vibrant and colourful. Way better than Showtime.

All else equal, hbo could've survived that though. Combination of haymon and top rank is the main reason.

Who Was Mayweather's Adviser/Manager @ the Time Neil?

Who Not Only ORCHESTRATED Mayweather's Departure from HBO, but Made Sure He Could Smooooooooothly Segue to Showtime?

You Think Floyd HIMSELF Did That Shit? Ellerbe?
