GAme of the night in Estonia.

    3-3 vs Hungary.

Estonia took the lead, Hungary went 2-1 up, Estonia equalized and took the lead, and Hungary equalized!

    Still playing.............

England is still partially infected with the idea of "pluck" and "hard charging" and a distrust of technique despite a good 90 years of evidence against it ... that's why they're always fucking exhausted the final 1/3 of matches

If not for a communist dictatorship, Hungary would've been a superpower

Apparently, the first instance of team-wide doping took place in the World Cup FInal in 1954, when the Germans were all on Speed.

Much will be made of Englands win, it always happens, but Spain are poor, barely got 1 win at the World Cup and are really a shadow of their former selves.

It's been a carbon copy of the Croatia game at the World Cup the only difference is England took their first half chances.

Utterly spent for most of this 2nd half and Spain have had chances to tie it.

Shocking statistic..................After 71 minutes of play, Englands last shot had been their 3rd goal.

And after 68 minutes, England were ragged.

    We've seen this movie before.

Spain with a late goal...............basically..........England were dead on their feet.

    Like I said.........been there before.

No actual improvements have been made unfortunately.

    BBC Headline

"England Hold Out For Memorable Win Over Spain".

I wonder what will most people focus on.

    "Hold Out" or "Memorable Win".

Spain don't have any actual trickery just some very good players who are past their best and some very good players not at their best yet and a Manager who I don't think will be there much longer.

It speaks absolute volumes of what you, I, Slice, Jimmy and Feebles and Whisky know..........England from 3-0 up were reduced to a team whose last shot was their last goal and who were worn down to a nub because they don't know how to defend properly. It's all crash and bang and wallop.

Will the media do it's job? No. It's all onboard the hype machine again until the next inevitable fuck up.

I guess Spain got 7 minutes off then???

England were ragged from about the 70th minute.

They keep punching and they keep moving because they don't know how to make their man miss.

    It's that simple.

Oh give over, any win over Spain away is a memorable win. When was the last Ireland or Scotland away win over Spain? Can't remember it?

    Memorable win.

Look, we are not a great team and our performance at the world cup was mainly down to a favourable draw, I'm not in dreamland. The thing is, we do have some genuinely good players coming through, and all this is really about providing a good spine for those guys. Tonight was a good win, mentally more than anything, but it's a good win.

Sorry man, I don't mean to be harsh on Ireland or Scotland, I actually like both and would rather a 90's situation where the home nations and Ireland were all decent sides. I was being a bit of a dick there, all I'm saying is if Ireland or Scotland got the same result tonight I'd be giving them all the praise in the world.

London has more people than Ireland and Scotland combined

Don't slag off on the Celtic nations just because Irish is having a go at John Bull's plucky wee squad

Not at all, I don't take any offence, Ireland are poor and Scotland are poor.

Like I said, I had England to win, Switzerland to draw or win, Moldova to draw or win, Hungary to go in at half time ahead and Norn Ireland to get beaten.

What I focus on here is a replica a carbon copy of the 2nd half vs Croatia.

    I saw that again tonight.

I've no dog in the race either way with regard to an England win, I'd call them my joint first team Internationally speaking, with Ireland.

I just feel that again the 2nd half fade gets overlooked too easily in preference for cheap headlines and guffawing regarding Kane etc.

That's not directed at anyone here, it's directed against the usual media hypsters.

Naw, Ah wiz more along the lines o’ ‘where did seven minutes come from?’. England had a few chances which couldae gone their way but for Rashford mistiming his run and going offside and Kane running a bad angle when a pass put him through on a break, like. Plus Ye havenae mentioned the ootrageously cynical play o’ the Spaniards cutting doon the English laddies whenever they broke.

England were brilliant for 45 minutes and dour for 45 minutes.

It's the repetitive nature of the fade that catches my attention.

Result was excellent. Entertainment was excellent. Performance was worryingly familiar.

One missed chance in the first half, one correctly awarded Spanish penalty in the 2nd............and England lose.

If it had been 2-2 after 75 minutes........go ahead, pick the winner.

Saw it vs Columbia. Saw it vs Croatia. Saw it again tonight.

Ironically........if Terry and Ashley Cole were about today, England would be a far far more complete side.

Remember, England didn't take their chances vs Croatia in their last 2 games vs Croatia and won neither, accordingly.

One thing I will say, these days anybody who is Irish and good will tend to play for England if there is an opportunity. Same I guess for NI. Scotland haven't had a world class player for a good while but I don't see them donning an England top. England players who obviously aren't good enough for the national side will start looking for Irish or Scottish ancestry.
The Welsh seem to be the most loyal out of everyone. They have had genuine world class players who could have jumped on the England gravy train but would rather represent a country of sheep-shagging spunkbubbles instead. Fair play.

I utterly despise both of them, and I'm going to despise you soon if you make me admit to this again in the future but yes, Terry was a world class defender in his pomp and Cole was the world's best in his position for over a decade. Cole in particular was England's best player by a distance when the Scouse potato was getting all the headlines.
