Holy Cow! Did anyone saw this one coming? The latest reboot of John Carpenter's horror saga scared the competition when it opened to a gargantuan $77.5 million, making it the best opening ever in the Halloween franchise and scoring the best October opening ever. It also claimed the second best opening ever for an R-Rated horror film, It remains at the top with $125 million. The film also received almost identical good reviews by both critics and audiences at RT (80% fresh from critics and 79% from audiences). It also scored B+ in Cinemascore which is good for word of mouth in the coming weeks. The film, which marked the return of Jamie Lee Curtis to both a starring role and to the horror franchise, had a budget of just $10 million (the amount spend on catering for 'Avengers Infinity War) and with this huge opening is not only already in profit street, but at the top of the whole franchise.

On the other hand, MustDieTurd's apple of his eye, The Old Man & The Gun expanded to 802 screens and barely took the 10th spot with $2.05 million. The film has grossed a total of $4.2 million or less than Michael Moore's last documentary bomb made at the box office.

They continue rebooting these franchises every few years and they become more profitable than the last. Pretty amazing.
This new Halloween blew away the Rob Zombie reboot from 2007 which was I think around $26.6 million in its opening.

  3. Further proof that the large majority (90%) of people going to cinemas are simple, brainless sheep with no fuckin clue who enjoy being spoon-fed dogshit.

Your opinion is meaningless until you've watched the movie.

  5. I might watch it.

Translation: he is upset that audiences preferred a rehashed horror film over his hyped artsy Robert Redford melodrama.

    Hanz likes this.
  8. I doubt you´d know what an artsy movie is.
And this is hardly that or hyped.

Basic fact is panchy, movie-audiences have been slowly dumbing-down since the 1980s...

  12. No clue about Rob Zombie other than he looks like a biker who came along at the right time, in the right place.
    Death Metal + Horror movies?

  13. In fact, when you Google his name and look at the people associated with him, its exactly like a fuckin modern-day Manson Family:

I gotta admit I did found his first Halloween movie competent, though too gory for my taste.
