Vitali had the size and ability to be a tough fight for Holy, but... I don't think he wins. I think Evander would be too quick and dynamic for Vitali, and down the stretch would simply want it more. I don't think Vitali had the same gas tank as Bowe to wear Holy down. Holy doesn't stop Vitali, but I think he wins a clear decision in a fight where Vitali has his moments, but Holy has more of them.
Agreed. Vitali was willing to fight in close and didn't immediately look to clinch. It makes for a more exciting fight to watch, but I think hurts him against Evander where he might be more effective leaning on his opponent and trying to sap energy. His rangy arm punches and awkwardness would provide Holyfield problems, but just not enough. Evander's technical ability and tenacity allows him to land the more telling blows.
If Vitaly were more of a KO puncher I'd like his chances more but I don't think he can discourage Evander enough to have his great size be a bigger factor... not an easy fight but I think Holyfield's speed and tenacity are too much of a hurdle for Vitaly to overcome (he preferred a moderate pace and against the guys he fought he could have whatever pace he wanted; Holyfield affords him no such luxury)
Normally I'd pick a guy like Vitali but early 90's Evander just seemed to have this ridiculous energy and an ability to put combinations together that just makes me think he takes this. It's really fucking close though.
