i dont hate haymon. i just dont think he has done anything to benefit the game of boxing. i was interested to see how his model would turn out and i cant say its been successful. he has basically done what don king does. find an investor interested in getting into boxing and swindle him out of all his money.

whether or not haymon overpaid for that venue wasnt the major point i was making. if he didnt, it doesnt change the fact spence has fought only twice in his 6 year career in or near his hometown.

it wasnt some big deal being made about it either. the guy (a local promoter) said it in passing that haymon paid twice the going rate for that venue for spence's fight, and that was that. didnt strike me as anything worth lying about.

 

I dont think it's fair to compare Haymon to a sociopath like King. Not when all his fighters love working for him, whereas King notoriously and criminally fucked over every fighter he promoted.
