probably close to 90% were/ are on steroids? If you have a famous boxer that you feel 100% was NOT on roids let's hear who...

I think peds are mainly when boxers move up in weight or start to age. And heavyweights of course, because it’s a different culture.

There’s a point where the boxer has to say “I’m going to start” because most teenage ams aren’t juicing. “Help” easing into a new weight class and “keeping the edge” they know they already had are easier pills to swallow...

As someone who’s been watching boxing for 20+ years I don’t see the average world class boxer of today as being physically superior to the ones before. What stands out is the way guys are able to move up and fill out in new weight divisions and how guys in their 30’s and 40’s are keeping their body definition and still performing.

Boxers? Bruh, 90% of world class athletes in general are on the juice nowadays, regardless of the sport.

Agree. And the worst part is, it is probably a small minority of all boxers with access to the best and newest ones that can't be detected. So potentially, promoters and managers can pick and choose winners and losers to some extent.

I think once you look at the money that's involved and the general suspicion amongst athletes that the "Other guy is on them too".........then yes.

What limits my belief is that steroids don't always help in boxing.

It's a case by case basis rather than an overall conclusion.

    Steroids ALWAYS help

Not using them correctly can make them help LESS but they always help in every sport

The highest profile athlete that's on roids and it's sooooooooooooooooo painfully obvious is Lebron. He's almost 34 now with COUNTLESS mileage on him, yet still one of the most athletic players in the world, still has incredible stamina, still recovers from minor injuries exceptionally quickly. And the media is all "Look at that Lebron! What a freak of nature!"

They're so willfully ignorant to the fact that the guy is obviously juicing like a muthafucka.

The problem with this logic is, if all players are juicing (and have since 80s) and LeBron still stands out as unique, doesn't thatthat still make him 'a freak of nature', even though he is juicing?

There's no doubt whatsoever that Lebron is one of the most freakish physical specimens in sport's history, so yes. He's both a freak and a juicer.

Psychologically and physically, roids have suchan impact, that i dont believe for a second that some top athletes are not on it, and they can compete with those that are juicing

  11. I think this is now pretty much universally agreed.

I don't think "everybody" is on them at all... lots are, probably well over half in most sports but there's bound to be clean ones too

They’be been getting popular and with the whole “of you ain’t cheating you ain’t trying” thing going on, it looks like most guys are looking for that extra edge.

Id only consider taking steroids if i wanted faster recovery from an injury. i mean a real injury, not some mickey mouse fractured orbital bone or other such minor afflictions.

Brock Lesnar never got that huge naturally. The drug test revealed he was on a whole bunch of stuff including estrogen blockers so that he wouldn't develop breasts. All this time people were in awe of his immense size. I wonder how he'd look if he was completely clean.

probably won't happen then, since the risk of getting injured in mommys basement are slim to none

  27. I only heard Ali took Thyroxine for rapid weight-loss for the Holmes fight in 1980 which ultimately led him to failing a test and having his license revoked by NSAC.

Well technically Clen and Stanozolol are not steroids, perhaps I should have made that clear.

    PED's is a different matter.

PED's always help because they are what they say they are, Performance Enhancers.

Of course if you can't box then taking PED's might only help improve a losing performance.

It's quite possible that Fernando Vargas only took Oscar 11 rounds because he was on PED's. It is also as you point out possibly the case that taking gear hindered his performance. He looked very good bulling Oscar to the ropes but shit in almost every other category.

A classic example of a "Performance Enhancer" not really being a "performance enhancer".

Thyroxine might help a guy make weight and turn in a fight winning performance.

On the other hand, it might help a guy who didn't need to make weight and had bad kidneys to almost get killed in the ring in turning in an atrocious performance in a fight he had 0% chance of winning in any regard.

So like I say, we have to look at it on a case by case basis.

  30. But Clenbuterol and Stanozolol (technically it is an anabolic steroid) are still 'enhancers', right?
    Otherwise, why take them?
Creatine, which I take regularly is an 'enhancer'.

They all fall under the 'Performance-Enhancing Drugs' umbrella.
