There are many. But a certain few come to mind.

Lennox Lewis- He had some fights where he looked average and pedestrian at times. But when he was put in there with someone that was viewed as a huge threat, he would shine.

Bernard Hopkins- Looking back on him, he was obviously brilliant, but at the time, there were a lot of performances he had where he didn't always look like the phenom he really was. I think that played a major role in a lot of people thinking Trinidad would beat him, along with the whole Titomania at the time. But if you put someone in there against him that was viewed as a threat, he put on his best performances.

I mean... kinda, but not really.

Garcia doesn't have a second gear the way Toney, Benitez, and Sal Sanchez had.

He's just an okay fighter against ALL competition.

The opposite of this would be somebody like an Ike Quartey who would absolutely punch holes in bums and then either come up short or lose close against anybody good

Garcia Consistently Fought DOWN to the Level of Lesser Competition, Shined Against Khan and Matttthhhhhyyyyyse (Both of Whom were FAVORED to Beat Him) and Fought on Just About EVEN Terms in his Losses.

You're trying to summon the wrath of Terp, eh?

I remember YEARS ago... probably going back well over 10 years... arguing with Terp after he claimed Quartey would stop a prime Duran.

    I disagree completely.

I would say that Thurman and Porter are the two best opponents Danny has faced, and he's 0-2 in those fights

The Khan win was more about Khan being a complete fraud than Danny being a killer.

Danny tends to look his best against punching bags like Salka, Vargas, and Rios.

He doesn't have the ability to raise his game to a different level. He just is what he is.

The Thread is about Fighting TO The LEVEL of Your Competition...

Garcia Lost 2 CLOSE Bouts to Thurman and Porter; Garcia FOUGHT To Their Level Though...

Danny was a Sizable UNDERDOG Against Khan and Mattthhhhyyyssse...He Dominated THE Best Versions of Khan and Matttthhhhhhyyyyysssssse That Ever Lived...Shit, Danny KO'ed Khan w/Less Fuss than Canelo Had...

Danny Fought DOWN to the Level of Mauricio Herrera, Lamont Peterson and Others Also...REED's Fairly Indifferent about Danny, Can't Stand Angel But it Doesn't Impact REED's View of Danny @ All...

Garcia's a Perfect Fit for This Thread...

REED Made His Case and STANDS By What he Said...

Garcia WON Fights He Was Favored to LOSE, STRUGGLED w/Guys He was Supposed to Wipe His Ass w/and Competed on Even Terms in his Losses...

Perhaps MORE Than Any Current Fighter, Danny Garcia's "Fought TO THE LEVEL of his Competition"....Losing 2 Close Decisions DOESN'T Diminish That...

Oh yeah, I forgot Terp's MOST ridiculous statement ever.... he claimed that P4P, Cotto beats prime Ali.

I mean, I realize its usually a waste to argue P4P matchups but JESUS CHRIST are you serious???

I do believe that Terp is a brother.

A Jason Whitlock/Jesse Lee Peterson type of brother.

Yes, they should. No other athlete in history is more representative of black empowerment and black pride.

Terp is the literally the ONLY negro in history who looks at Ali as a negative.

Was he perfect? No, he shouldn't have tormented Frazier with all that gorilla talk.

But his outside the ring legacy is unquestionable.

1nce Again, REED What was ACTUALLY Stated Doub...It's Becoming Irritating as FUCK How You REPEATEDLY Do This Shit...

Can You Imagine a Filipino BOXING Fan HATING Manny Pacquiao? A Mexican BOXING Fan HATING Julio Cesar Chavez, Sr? Yeah, REED Can't Either...

The Notion of a "Brother", Who's Also a BOXING Fan, HATING Muhammad Ali is QUITE Difficult to Fathom...Maybe if You're the Offspring of Frazier, Terrell or Patterson, But it's Preposterous Beyond That...

REED's POINT Was, Terp was LYING About his Ethnicity...He AIN'T No "Brother"...
