e.g. Mayweather receives a sizable portion of gate an PPV rights as well as a stake in the promotion and RIZIN doing this because One Championship is growing rapidly in the Asian martial arts game.
You see a lot of former people tied to Pride in RIZIN.

I would not be surprised if Mayweather does not end up with 50% stake in the promotion.

 

Agreed, but Nasukawa wouldn't have a chance in a pure boxing match either as he only weighs a buck twenty. My guess is if kicks or knees are allowed then will be some sort of mixed rules affair and be only an exhibition no nobody risks suffering a blotch on their '0'. Both guys will agree beforehand not to hurt each other.

 

I can’t see them agreeing to not hurt each other. The language barrier and culture differences are pretty substantial here.

I’m not saying it won’t be a fix I just can’t see Floyd’s team being able to communicate it perfectly to what standards they would want it at and due to the cultural differences I can’t see the Japanese understanding it the same way Mayweather’s team does.

I’m not saying the Japanese don’t fix their fights I’m just saying it’ll be very difficult to communicate an amicable outcome for all involved. The Japanese aren’t going to let Tinshin lose and Floyd certainly ain’t going to agree to lose. The only way you’ll know I was wrong is if it turns out a draw.

 

Being here it doesn’t seem all that popular. I’m not seeing any Tinshin commercials or billboards out here. In fact I see Japan’s 2 biggest tennis players (Nishikori & Osaka) on tv way more often. Not that I watch a lot of Japanese tv.

Also when Rizin first came out over here they stopped showing UFC fights on cable. A few weeks ago they brought the UFC back. Plus Rizin is only doing maybe about 1 to 2 shows in a 6 month period and Tinshin has been on all but one by my recollection. They’d be a lot less relevant without him.

I think for optimal effectiveness, Floyd’s translator can’t just be Japanese speaking, he needs to be Japanese and preferably one who’s lived in and done business in America for a while because a lot can be lost in translation just off of cultural differences. You guys don’t live here so I can understand you think this is as easy as negotiations between say America and Spanish speaking Mexico but trust me it’s not.
