He has a puncher's chance, but it's a pretty remote one. Outta 10 times, Ray probably wins 9. Maybe 1/10 Jackson catches Leonard with a Graham like bomb he doesn't recover from. The other 9 times, Leonard takes him apart. Jackson has a better chance against Hearns, Benitez and Duran.
Gtfoh ... Jackson does not KO Leonard 10% of the time ... that's ludicrous... the guy is vastly inferior... it'd be more like 1 out of 300, not 10 out of 100 Jackson barely lands anything worthwhile and gets knocked out in about 5 rounds tops... he'd be on the receiving end of the highlight
You're probably right that he goes 0/10, but Jackson truly had power that wasn't of this Earth. Some guys in history have overrated power... but Julian's lived up to every bit of the legend. I 100% agree that Ray was vastly superior, but not many fighters are withstanding the right hand that KO'd Norris. He doesn't have much of a chance against Leonard, but to say he has zero chance is selling his power short, and also pretending like Leonard was incapable of getting hurt.
Jackson was an insane puncher but this is Ray Leonard... Jackson wouldn't land Buster Drayton shots on him ... Jackson would wake up pregnant with a butt baby... no, a butt SUGAR BABY
It's whatever, cause we are talking about 1 matchup and not a series of 10. We're both in agreement that Leonard stops Jackson.
Jackson was limited... his skills were average, chin was average, he had massive, retarded power in both hands but not much imagination in attack... defense was average... he did have good hand speed ... he beat very few fighters of note... he's got that great KO of Terry Norris and the desperation near-decapitation of Herol Graham; Shavers has the great KO of Ken Norton and the Ellis and Young KOs... There's not an ocean between them ... JJ was definitely better but not ridiculously so
Who did Jackson beat? Errol Graham and TerryNorris. Who did Shavers beat? Ken Norton, Jimmy Ellis, Jimmy Young.
If somehow Jackson was a completely unknown quantity and managed to get a fight with Leonard it's possible he could shock Ray with his power. This is however mythical matchups, not mythical scenarios. Leonard kicks Jackson's ass.
But you could say this about a more accurate, better boxer like Thomas Hearns? I think Leonard was too good to be shocked by 'power'.....unless he was fighting Donny 'Golden Boy' Lalonde!
I meant more in a caught off guard way if he didn't know anything about the opponent and treated them as if they weren't a danger. Not that power itself would in any way be shocking to him.
