    ONRASELLLIK!!

Big big night, both results in the group crucial. If both go as expected it leaves us heavy favourites to qualify... but, logically, the odds of both results going as expected are actually pretty slim! Any combo which leaves us ahead of leipzig with our fate in our hands in the final game at Celtic Park against Salzburg is, however, fine with me.....the prospect of huge nights like that being the whole reason you hope to qualify anyway, at the end of the day. TAKE ME TO YOUR PARADISE I WANT TO SEE THE JUNGLE!

Rangers have played Villarreal before, in the champions League, the year Arsenal made the final. I remember because Villarreal put out three British sides (Everton, Man U, Rangers) before going out to Arsenal in the semis.

Celtic played Villarreal a couple of times during that period too, once under o'neil once under strachan....iirc we won at home both times, lost away. Standard

Villarreal were awesome in their debut CL season, they had Riquelme pulling the strings in midfield. They should have made the final as well, they were all over Arsenal. Funnily enough it was Riquelme who missed a last minute penalty in that semi.

They were always there or thereabouts after that season but never quite hit those heights again.

Turning back to tonight there's a potential conspiracy theory angle people are having fun with....

Both teams are owned by red bull. If leipzig pull off a shock, essentially, both teams are thru.

Red bull CEO calls up salzburg's. Hi how's it going. How's the wife. I just thoufght you might aporeciate a friendly reminder that sponsorship renewal is coming up in the summer, I'm looking forward to a fruitful on going relationship. How are preparations going for Thursday? Yes, wouldn't it be magnificent if both our sibling clubs qualified. That'd be great, huh? Anyway, I better dash, say Hi to the kids for me!

lol. Not that I'm buying it....but if leipzig win and celtic go out it's totally because of this!

It says here, 'Celtic have now won 3 times in 45 away matches'.

    That's excellent!
    Well done, Celtic United!

When's the last time Forest played anywhere in Europe? When's the last time there was a sellout in Brazilian football?

    No.
    I'm serious this time.
Three wins in 45 away matches is better than NO wins in 45 away matches.

    Amirite???!!!???

Forest. The type a nondescript English outfit that has one atmospheric full house a decade when they invite celtic to take over their town for a testimonial. Fuck off.

With the exception of the Liverpool and Man U supporters here we'd all want Forest's trophies, let's be honest. Goodnight.

    I wouldn't trade them for Celtic's, frankly

We've got a European Cup, too

And a lot more than one league title

I think you'd have to be insane to say they've been more successful than Celtic

Aye. One club has a history the other had a moment in time. Since forest did anything worth mentioning we've turned over nearly every team in Europe worth mentioning. And before forests 5 year blip became a twinkle in cloughs eye celtic were among the very greatest teams in Europe at least twice before in eras separated by half a century; in between those eras won two british cups which were the most prestigious of their time, besting arsenal, man utd, everton etc; broke world and latterly european attendance records, again several decades apart. Celtic come back generation after generation because, despite its disadvantages of location, it's a great club. The type of club that can attract the 8th biggest crowds on earth in a micky mouse league, the type that can bring 80k away fans across a fucking ocean. Forest just happened to have a sober Brian clough for a few years, then fell right back into the semi irrelevance which is their natural habitat

We have 111 notable trophies, mate. And while I'm not obviously directly equating scottish and English trophies in achievement terms, even still, each of those was a great day, a celebration, a trophy presentation, etc. Amd even more than trophies per say, great days are the whole point in fitbaw. I wouldn't swap all those for forest's handful.

Shit, all considered I'm not sure id swap the frequency of great days shellik furnish us with for any side in the world! Sunday will be another, salzburg in a fortnight another, old firm games to come in the most joyous, atmospheric ground in european fitbaw! Its a slow burning timmy ecstasy, so it is, to LOVE THE JUNGLE TEAM! :D

    July? A friendly doesn't count

There's no way there were numerous sellouts in that league

I quite like Forest as a club (even though they always beat us), but aye Celtic are obviously bigger and greater. Still man, no matter how short their purple patch was, that's a fucking mental trophy haul.
