Just rewatched the last round kd with the original audio. Damn that punch sounded like a sledgehammer. Incredible that Fury got up and won the rest of the round

Lol come on man, I'm far from a Wlad fan, he was a really talented dude who was involved in some really, really shit fights, but you can't really fault much about the guy in the Joshua fight. Yeah he could have held and stuff but he's a guy in his 40's who was ahead imo at that point and he just couldn't see it out. You can't fault the guy in the fight with AJ.

I give him credit for the aj fight, since he shown heart up to a certain extent. Still, that pathetic, panic infused, bobbing and weaving reminded me why I despise the guy

Yeah but still man, I think you're being overly harsh. He deserved a lot of shit during his reign, especially the Mormeck fight, but you can't bring up the one fight where he actually showed a bit of mettle.

And he didn’t seem all that hurt, incredubly. He regained his senses very quickly and took control of the remainder of the round, much like he did in the 9th.

As an American, even I'll say that the rematch SHOULD BE in the UK. It's only fair. But it won't be. It'll be in Vegas.

Old Trafford would be amazing, has there ever been a big fight held there before?

Pretty sure one of the benn eubank fights was held there. Albeit it's a much bigger stadium today

I think if Wilder had dropped Fury twice early in the fight and he had box his way back into it people would appreciate the margin for error Fury was working with.

If rounds 1-4 of the actual fight were rounds 3-7 after Fury was down in the first and second I don’t think Fury’s fans would feel so good about those rounds. They’d be yelling at the screen for him to do more.

Doh, didn't see the above posts.

I personally can only see the rematch taking place in the States.

Which is one reason I don’t see it happening immediately.

One of these two guys will get in the ring with AJ next year. My guess is it will be Wilder first.

Those two shots were NASTY having rewatched it.. It sounded similar to Lewis’ right hand that laid out Rahman in the rematch.

However just as astonishing to me was when they resumed fighting, Fury actually HURT Wilder with a right hand that had him holding on. I missed that a bit the first time because it was a dramatic round but I caught it 2nd time around.

I hope so, in all honesty. Would rather see the rematch when there is more on the line.

These fights are so eagerly anticipated, the promoters are not going to feed them to the public all in one sitting. We got Fury-Wilder, but despite me believing that we'll get the rematch soon, we're going to have to wait a bloody long time before we see AJ-Wilder and Fury-AJ.

Put Fury in there with Miller or something. He should win comfortably, it helps get him back to full fitness, and the shit-talking from both sides means it will sell. Let AJ and Wilder unify and Fury can fight the winner for all the marbles PLUS the lineal title. Sorted.

People talking about a 'long count' a) need their eyes, ears and tongues cutting off/out and then b) told never to watch or comnent on boxing ever again.

Still Wilder's round, as was the 9th.

And also, for everyone asking "how did he get up?", I don't think it was the devasting punch that everyone makes it bout to be.

Certainly not as nuclear as this:

Fury was as badly hurt vs Wilder as Holmes was vs Shavers.

I think the essence of getting up from a shot is not just how hard it was, but how bad you are hurt.

Understandably, being hurt less by harder shots is indeed impressive.

But Fury was badly hurt, got up, and won the rest of the round.

It's a pro for Fury, rather than a contra against either man.

It's said that Larry was out and then jolted back to life by hitting his head on the canvas.

Which is the equivalent of saying if you shoot a guy in the left ear you can save his life by shooting him in the right ear.

Certain boxers more torque into their big punches:
    • force applied
    • arm 'vector' (i.e. connection of the target origin to the point of force application)
    • angle between the force and arm vectors

Wilder has freak-Hearns type arms so his is more 'snap'.

Hand size and hand weight are important too. The fist is the final applicator of the blow, and a proper fist, wrapped properly, makes a lot of difference.

    Just ask Cotto and Cheato.
