Inspired by Jeff Fenech. Fighters who had 1,000 excuses for every loss. It's gotta be Angel Manfredy in a landslide, right?
Holyfield. His excuse making surpassed his heart and was only second to his sexual lust. Holy claimed that his corner stopped the Toney fight too early, ffs
Probably not but I tend not to take what fighters say in post fight interviews too seriously as there's obviously a ton of adrenaline and emotions going on. (not to mention they've been punched repeatedly in the head) At the same time they don't usually offer up the same myriad of excuses as they do months or even years afterward. I suppose once they have more time to reflect it also provides additional time to come up with those excuses. For just one example I remember Shane Mosley saying right after their fight something along the lines of "Vernon sure did a number on me didn't he" and he seemed to accept he just got his ass beat on that particular night. He had a different take on it once the bruises healed though.
As great as Evander was I never wanted to hear what he had to say regardless of what the outcome of his fights were. He was delusional well before he was punch drunk. If he was in a senior's home the healthcare staff wouldn't be able to tell the difference between dementia and moments of clarity.
