What power? Thurman is the most mis-nicknamed fighter since Ricardo "El Matador" Mayorga

This fight would be a horrid piece of shit. I don't even want to devote time to conceiving of who would win or how. Hopefully both slip and break their legs 10 seconds in and the bout is cancelled

I’d go with Thurman to pull off a decision.

He could knock Spinks out but Thurman has become a more reluctant fighter to let his hands go after the Collazo fight.

I don't think there's any chance of a KO here

At welterweight Spinks was only stopped by Zab Judah and Judah needed two tries to get it done... Judah was an excellent puncher, he had a shitload more power than Thurman and put punches together better and threw them with better technique ... Thurman's supposed power came from the right hand he threw as a ridiculous haymaker which he landed almost exclusively on bums ... not only do I think he's not getting that stupid punch home on a guy as skittish and negative as Spinks but it's not a hard enough punch to seriously hurt Spinks even if he does find the target once in a while

If Thurman were to win it would be on the basis of Spinks having no power and a poor offensive output in general which makes fights like this hard to score clearly

See? Now I've thought about the fight and I'm angry, disgruntled... these guys ruined my day!

I've been critical of Thurman, but he beats the shit outta Spinks. If you look at what Thurman did to Carlos Quintana, granted a washed up Quintana, but still...this fight could look similar. Cory has no power to earn Thurman's respect and would just get walked down.

I could see Thurman getting him out late.

He beats the shit out of Spinks? That's fucking nutty ... he couldn't even beat the shit out of a 700 year old featherweight

Zab Judah was better than Thurman in every respect and Spinks went 1-1 with him ... if he could deal with him, there's not a chance in hell that this bullshit fighter beats the shit out of him

Carlos Quintana??!!!! Berto beat that fucking guy! And two years earlier no less

Thurman never beat anybody decent impressively and no I don't consider a past prime Quintana (and what a prime he had) in his final fight a decent opponent

He absolutely was... Faster, hit far harder, hit far better

Actually fought some guys that could fight... there's not a guy Thurman fought that I wouldn't pick Judah to beat with confidence

And I hated Judah, never had a good word to say about him ... Judah even boxes better than Thurman despite being basically a leap amateur... what's left? Chin? Thurman would've had to have fought a good puncher to answer that. He didn't. Judah fought a bunch of them. Heart? Wouldn't even become a factor.

If Judah fought the same guys Thurman did, he'd have the same record but with more KOs

I could see Judah beating Thurman. They both rely on athleticism but Judah was technically better. The guys that beat up Judah were all better technicians than him. Thurman isn’t.

Lmao. I could see Porter wearing him down with hip bumps but I could see Judah potshotting his scrubby ass for 12 rounds, maybe even dropping him a couple of times. Porter is mediocre.

Judah unraveled against the pressure of Baldomir. Porter beats him 10 out of 10

A Porter-Judah match would end in a DQ win for Judah due to Porter doing too much illegal grappling

I would take the Judah who beat Spinks to best Porter. Porter is a true scrub.

Porter beats Zab. Zab couldnt deal with pressure at all. Even if Porter is a shitty pressure fighter, he's physically stronger than Zab, he's bigger, he has good stamina, and a solid chin. That's enough to outwork Zab.

Zab had more success against boxer types than pressure fighters.

Prime Judah would be a dangerous fight for Thurman though. Styles.

Thurman isnt as good as some of his fan boys think, but he's also not as shitty as Cdogg thinks.

Is he an historically great welter? Fuck no!

    But he's a good fighter.

Agreed a 100%. He's far from special, but he's fast. athletic, and hit solidly.More importantly, he has a ton of heart (inside the ring, not outside). I would never pick him against a great welter, but he can hold hos own against the B class

    Yeah, we can agree here.

I dont think anybody would take him over true elites.

Just in the past 20 years...Floyd, Oscar, Mosley, Tito, Ike, Forrest... Thurman loses huge to all those guys.

I'd favor prime versions of Cotto, Margarito, and Tall Paul over Thurman as well.

But Keith is capable of beating Judah.

I like tall paul, but I could see thurman hopping his way to a decision. Still, Paul was a better all around fighter. No argument about the rest

    I forgot about Mayorga.

He's written off as a joke now, but I think the 02-03 Mayorga might be too strong and heavy handed for Keith.

Nah. I think Paul's stamina was too good for Thurman and that his body punching would wear Keith out.

Margarito has the style to be a bad match up for Thurman hands wraps or not.
