Another lil guy matchup that would have been great.

I'll defer to the lighter weight experts like Neil, ect..

    Thoughts?

Both overrated, but lopez is better

I would say that Lopez was more overrated and that Choco was better.

Dont forget, Terp's God (Rosendo Alvarez) twice arguably beat Lopez, and Alvarez was a quality fighter but inferior to Gonzalez in every way.

Lopez won the Alvarez re clearly. Chocolate Tito was more talented with better technique but Alvarez was a lot smarter, slicker and more savvy. Him being such a scrappy guy is what really gave Lopez trouble.

If Finito’s skin holds up I think he takes slight control in the second half and wins a close decision.

yeah, but Choco lost twice to a very average guy

  6. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

first of all gonzalez got robbed in the first fight. in his fourth division vs a guy who is better than "very average".

this guy says a lot of dumb shit

If You're Referring to Chocolatito-Rungvisai I, Gonzalez was NOT Robbed in the Least..

agREED w/the Rest of Your Points Though...

Yes he is, when were talking about the elite level of course. Yes he has power and will, but Hes basic, sloppy and relatively slow. There's a tendency among hardcore fans to overrate the skills and talents of the lower weight classes, cause it makes them seems like connoisseur

    Very dumb thing to say.

As if Lopez would ever have the stones to move up to 115.

Cmonnnn REED, yes the Hell he was robbed!

Choco won that first fight CLEARLY.

Got brutalized in the rematch, but doesn't change that he won the first fight.

Rungs is a big puncher and a natural super fly.

Lopez never had the balls to move up and fight the best.

His resume is a fucking joke compared other Mexican greats like Chavez, Sanchez, Saldivar, and Olivares.

And it didnt have to be a joke resume. Carbajal and Gonzalez were at 108, while Too Sharp and Arbachakov were at 112.

Choco has reversed. He was overrated when his fans were calling him the best Nicaraguan fighter ever over Arguello, but now as a result of his downfall, he's become underrated.

Why, cause I pick Lopez over him? Youre so melodramatic lol. But fair point about the weight , just rewatched the fights and yes, he was noticeably smaller.than sor

No, I meant in general Choco's career has kind of been written off since the Rungs rematch.

Choco should rightfully be a a first ballot HOF guy.

And no, picking Lopez over Choco isnt a crazy pick. They are the two best fighters in the history of 105. Which in itself isnt saying a lot... it's not like it's a small division with a depth of history in talent like 118 or 126.

I think 105 is the most pointless division in boxing history. The smallest division in the sport should be 108... which it was until 1990.

Superfly is kinda a pointless division also. Shoulda been 108, 112, 118, 122, and 126 as the five "small divisions".

    But I digress..

Close one but I lean towards Lopez over 12 rounds.

    Could imagine them splitting fights.

Nah, Chocolatito-Rungvisai I Wasn't Even Remotely a "Robbery" Bruh...Wilder-Fury was MUCH Closer to a "Robbery" than Chocolatito-Rungvisai I was....Chocolatito was the HOUSE Fighter That Night and REED Doesn't Recall the HBO Crew Crying Robbery Either and we ALL Know How Fucking BIASED they Typically Are for the House Guys...

Anyways, here's What REED Posted After the Fight:

Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez vs Sor Rungvisai...

BEST Case Scenario for Chocolatito was a Draw...Coupling Rungvisai's Size/Strength Advantage w/a Southpaw Style BOTHERED Chocolatito, Quite Clearly...He Consistently BEAT Chocolatito to the Punch and Got the Better of Most of the Early Exchanges...

Though Never Hurt Chocolatito was MOVED by the Sheer Force of Runvisai's Punches Throughout...Dropped w/a Body Shot and UPROOTED from his Stance, on Several Other Occasions...Rounds 1 and 2 were CLEARLY Rungvisai's and REED Gave him 3 and 4 as Well, Though Both were ADMITTEDLY Close...

Chocolatito Won Round 5 Big, Won 6 Also...8 Was Close, but REED Scored it for Chocolatito...9, 10 and 12 were Pretty Clear for Chocolatito...Round 11 was the Sixth Round REED Scored for Rungvisai, so Right Then and There, the BEST Chocolatito Could Do was a Draw...Ultimately, it Boils Down to How You Scored Rounds 3, 4 and 8, but Chocolatito Categorically DID NOT "Defeat" Rungvisai...REED Ain't Sure he'd Win a RE Either...

Chocolatito Seems to Have Plateaued @ Super Fly...Doesn't Have the Same SNAP on his Shots and Considering his Somewhat METHODICAL Footwork, that's NOT a Good Thing...Rungvisai was Better in the Pocket AND Showed Superior Wheels from about the 8th Onward...The Constant Butts were Unfortunate and Probably DELIBERATE, but More Importantly, Rungvisai's a BAD Matchup for Chocolatito, @ 115...

REED Stands By Those Thoughts...No Way in Hell was That Fight a "Robbery"...

You Have a Tendency to Offer Up Overtly CONTRARIAN Boxing Opinions to Make YOURSELF Seem Like a Connoisseur...

Rungvisai's One of the 15-20 Best Fighters on the Planet...In No Way is that 'Average'....

    agREED…

REED Looooooooooooooved Watching Finito's Technical Mastery on Display but the Fact of the Matter is he DIDN'T Push the Envelope in Terms of CHALLENGING Himself...He Waited Until the Attractive Names Moved Up Before Moving Up Himself...

There Could've Been Some Legit SUPER FIGHTS in the 108-115 Realm Back Then, but Lopez Played it Safe...

you have a tendancy to label a contrarian anybody that disagree with you

You and mikE Have a Tendency to Be ABSURDLY Contrarian, and He’s Literally the Only Other Poster REED’s Attributed That Label to.

No you also called ugtbk a contrarian among others. Its one of your typical, tactic to try to gain the upper hand in a discussion.

Which fail miserably in this case since im far from a contrarian

  26. Xplosive

    Xplosive X-MOD Bad Motherfucker

Lopez is beautiful to watch but I could never understand why his fans and some historians call him the "perfect" fighter when he was limited as an infighter.

I think Jung Koo Chang, who was a whirlwind pressure fighter, would be bad news for Finito's lack of an inside game.

WHEN and WHERE Did REED Call Ugo a Contrarian?

You Can ALWAYS Be Counted On to Present an ABSURD Ass, Left Field Opinion...It's Like You've ASSumed mikE's Role in his Absence...Rungvisai's "Average"???...Really?...You Either HAVEN'T Seen Him Fight OR You're Being Blatantly Contrarian...

    As Usual...

I can't remember REED calling me a contrarian. We used to disagree a lot in the past, but at least for the last six years or so I have considered Reed to be my forum friend.

Xplosive calls me a contrarian all the time, and SteveDave used to. Then again, I have acted like one too

  29. Xplosive

Ugo is cool, I like him, but he is a contrarian lol. But despite that one flaw he's a quality poster.

Unlike the failed stand-up comedian BOSS who brings nothing of substance to the forum.

  30. Jesus of montreal

Maybe I'm mistaken when it comes to UGTBK, but a quick search for contrarian and reed showed pages and pages of results. You clearly lack the technical knowledge (and the overall intelligence and vocabulary I might add) to discuss about the sport civilly, so you have to resort to these ad hominem attacks
