Yes he was. Jiriv was a hard puncher, but he wasnt a devastating puncher, theres a difference.

No he wasn't. Above average at best. And especially in a thread like this his name doesn't belong.

 

Jirov was a hurtful bodypuncher but I agree he was not a KO puncher ... he was an accumulator

The line between WW and MW wasn’t as clear as it is now so a true mw with a big punch could probably stand out. I’m not that familiar with him but he’s got a pretty good resume to be just a punch with a shaky chin.

Graziano didn't fight any of the best middleweights in the 1940s. Zale sat on the title and avoided the best fighters. Zale was no more the best middleweight when he was champ than Gus Lesnevich or Freddie Mills were the best Light Heavyweights. Their legacy is each other and the exclusion of better middleweights with either too much melanin or not enough mob ties (why Lamotta, whom Zale wanted no part of had to finally throw a fight just to get a spot in line for a shot) ... Graziano was connected, which is why he got a shot despite lacking a single win over a notable middleweight.

 

Yeah, the names that stand out abit do seem to be welters.
