Not sure about Sterling, he misses chances, always does, always will. He only survives because it's a good team that can tolerate his profligacy.

Salah was poor overall, still set up a chance and had a couple of his own. Liverpool let themselves down a bit when they got to the final third but is worth saying City played really well.

Yeah Sterling didn't play all that well, missed a sitter, Robertson had him under wraps.

The only plus out of this for Liverpool is that City now know there's no actual gap between the two teams as sides. City looked to be hanging on tonight and may have less left in the tank. Liverpool didn't take a beating or lose in such a fashion as to seriously undermine their title momentum, but they did lose.

Liverpool can forget about fucking Wolves in the Cup, that's nonsense.

Expect teams to start obliging City in the League again fairly soon.

Liverpool will have to do their own thing and hope that the League Cup bullshit and City's infatuation with Europe takes a toll somewhere along the line.

Pretty sure Lovren will be dropped again once Joe Gomez comes back. For what it is worth now.

That wiz excellent and well worth the 8 minutes spent watching. It wid be grand tae get the balance back in fitba.

The German system diz appear tae be the best but Ah am biased, when Ah lived in Munich Ah went tae a few matches when Bayern were playing (inc. a 5-2 drubbing o’ Frankfurt) but most o’ the times Ah visited the Allianz wiz tae tae see 1860 Munich play as Ye could always get a ticket. Ah wiz going tae recommend Ye seeing them but Ah just foond oot they were relegated from Bundeliga 2 last season and have gone back tae a smaller stadium which Ah’ve never visited; Städtisches Stadion an der Grünwalder.

My wife’s cousin has played fer SC Freiburg befoor and is still very heavily involved wi’ they second team and is set tae be partae the coaching staff in the future.

Whit isnae mentioned in the above presentation is the fact that the players are a lot more accessible than in England and, tae a certain extent, Scoatland... Ah used tae live very close tae the hotel where the Bayern players used tae often stay. Ah’d see them milling aboot but one criticism is they all seemed tae wear Adidas ‘sliders’ (a dark combination o’ a flip flop and a sandal) wi’ white socks. Ah ken it’s an auld cliche but SANDALS and SOCKS!? Ah’d rather walk barefoot on broken glass. Ah bet Vhisky’s wearing a pair right noo, the sockey bassa.

The thing with these past prime prem players is, even if you catch them before they slide right off the hill, you're paying big wages for players with zero resale value. Rangers back to rolling the short termism dice to try n play catch up

There’s no coontering the long term vision but Rangers havetae stop the evil ones in the next 3 seasons so it’s short term all the way.

Be a real pity if Rangers wound up back in the lower divisions because they didn't spend wisely.

I'll actually be interested to see what Defoe has left, always enjoyed watching him, such a pure striker

But I can't say the signing has me quaking in my boots in 2019

Seems like rangers scouting network must be even worse than celtics seems to have become recently....Just looking down a list for players who are a) available b) cheap enough to afford and c) the tea lady has already heard of

It's hardly surprising though is it. For years they haven't had any business scouting at that end of the market.

Look at the guys Celtic had signed in that period..........enough to win a Champions League.

Stevie G at the reigns, Morelos carving ‘em up, Dafoe on the way, level wi’ Celtic and less losses - it’s no’ all bad, like. Ah mean, Ah appreciate the concern from Ye and Hoot, especially since the ‘Pool have been doing well Ye’re like the ghost o’ Bill Shankly.

What's the alternative? Tell players who make it public that they want to leave that they can't?

They want to leave for.....Southampton? If they were balls deep in European Cup competitions they would be more apt to stay.

Quite honestly, even leaving the pay rise it inheres aside, if I were a player who wasn't a mental celtic fan id probably leave for Southampton. Yes there's the regular home games in front of 50-60k at celtic but there're nearly as many away days in freezing Inverness, dingwall, Dundee. The spl is pish.

And guys like van dijk, wanyama, dembele etc rightly perceive that they're good enough to make a stepping stone out of move to somewhere like Southampton. A guy like Stuart Armstrong just wants to roll his dice and try to.

I understand, I mean if it happens to Liverpool it happens to Celtic, manifold.

Just.........if they had those guys altogether at once........they could have won the big one.

The inevitable future is a "super league" of a few select sides where all of the good players play

If you're playing in the SPL and somebody offers you 10 times the salary to play for a middling side in the world's most watched league, you'd have to be crazy not to do it... this is a job where you're lucky if you're still employable at 35

Oh I agree. But if Celtic could get into Europe and stay there beyond the group stages they would attract far bigger bids from outside the UK for those players.

The financial mismanagement at Celtic and Rangers these past few years, in either direction, has been abysmal.

One has squandered resources, the other has squandered resources they didn't have.
