    Hell or High Water is a great movie. Easily one of the best movies of this decade.

    Arrival and Fences are two more 2016 movies way better than Hacksaw Ridge.

    Well we’re all entitled to our opinion. I didn’t see HOHW but I thought Arrival was a pretty dull movie and that’s coming from a guy who loves dramas.

    I'd highly recommend HOHW.

    I've seen it over five times. It gets better with repeated viewings.

    Truly an awesome movie.

    HOHW was good. Not a great movie IMO. Tried too hard to be a coen brothers movie, but failed.

    It's a failure only if you measure it against a masterpiece like No Country or Fargo, which would be unfair to HOHW.

    It's an excellent movie. Well directed, well shot, very good script, and top notch acting. Jeff Bridges and Ben Foster always turn in quality performances, but Chris Pine's performance stood out. I didn't think he could be that good.

    But that's the measure i use when i watch these specific type of movies that try and imitate them. If you going to try and imitate the Coens. It better be at that level.

    Your problem is that you're comparing it to No Country, just because both are neo-western crime dramas. But that's the only similarity.

    They're not the same. Different sub genres (one is a noir, the other a bank heist film), totally different themes, and plots.

    No Country is better, but No Country is possibly the best film of the last 20 years (either that There Will Be Blood), so it's not a slight at HOHW.

    That's not why im comparing it. Im comparing it because that is what the director was going for. Check out the camera work. Check out the upclose camera shots when people are talking. It's clear what he was going for.

    Im comparing it because that was what he was going for. And IMO it didnt deliver. Good movie tho.

    What I'll concede is that the 99% score it has on RT is too high. It doesn't deserve THAT high a score, but it's a damn good film.

    Not even the most overrated film of 2016 - that goes to the LGBT bait that was Moonlight.

    Wait, Jeff Bridges is in this? Oh god, is he doing that terrible mumble mouth accent from True Grit that he fell so head over heels in love with that he worked it in nearly every movie that followed? Because if so I’m not sure I can stomach it.
