Hagler, like Joe Frazier, has become underappreciated beyond belief. You had that clown Stafford saying that Golov would beat him for Christ sake... The early 80s Hagler would beat the living shit outta Calzaghe. The gap in class is enough to drown out Calz's size advantage.
yeah. I don't see why on earth JC should be favored over Hagler, and claiming he would beat him easilly is mind boggling
Yeah,...Hagler was a great champ. However,..his lack of quality opposition lingers. I can’t for the life of me envision Calzaghe struggling with a face first, no defense bleeder like Antuofermo
You can argue about Hagler level of opposition just fine, for an ATG it's quite underwhelming, but using it as a justification for Calzaghe to beat him is smply insane. Calzaghe quality of opposition is beyond horrible, and Antuofermo, as ordinary as he was, was far better than Kabary Salem or even Robin Reid whom Joe struggled against.
Likewise, I pick Hagler. I do recognize though that Calzaghe as the much larger man would make it difficult for Hagler with his style. Slapping does not win 'fights', but under boxing rules it is quite effective
You know this site is in its death throes when the first two topics in GD are durpy "how 'bout those Mets?" shite from arguably the most irrelevant poster in history
Some predictions for his next topic: "Boy, that Julian Jackson punched pretty friggin hard" "Muhammad Ali was pretty good at boxing" "Damnit, Riddick Bowe should've fought Lennox Lewis" "This 'Floyd Mayweather' is a real jerk"
´I have been hiding under the alias Explosivo for years now.........´ .....I am the infamous MOB..... ....... ................. Nobody?
Calzaghe a good 6' southpaw with a chin at 175, tonne of speed and angles and doesn't cut, come on, he's got a great shot.
I don't know if you're replying to me, but I was referring to the part in UGTBK post that I underlined
That Calzaghe wouldn't come close of hurting Hagler and several fans would see the bout lopsided but judges have to reward punches that land
