He did get beat up pretty badly in the last few rounds. I'm not gonna say Mayweather-Gatti, that would be unfair to Mikey... but Spence was using him as a punching bag for most of the latter half of the fight.
I'm well aware that Mikey dominated Loma's daddy, and dont worry, I have my own opinions about the pedestal Loma is on. It's my feeling that right now, Crawford and Spence are the two best P4P fighters on the planet.
Even though I'm kinda iffy about Loma's chin, Mikey looked Sooooooooo damn inept against an elite technician, that I'd have to make Loma the favorite.
Wow that’s stupid. You lose your 2nd pro fight to a guy who came in overweight and hit you low a ton. That makes someone your daddy?
Mikey Garcia can definitely box. But that guy Doub loves so much, I'll pull no punches... that guy cant fucking box for shit.
It's not irrelevant if people are calling the guy p4p #1 after 6 fights, which don't include a rematch with the guy who beat him.
He lost to salido. There's no disputing that. The loss doesn't mean much. Especially now, obviously. But it is interesting/relevant that Garcia handled Salido easily while Loma clearly did not.
The narrative Loma fans paint is that he was completely green against Salido, yet somehow at his apex in his very next fight against Russell. Loma has yet to fight a guy since Salido who has a complete not a give fuck mentality in the ring. Those kind of guys are traditionally problematic for stylists such as Loma. Whereas if Loma-Garcia happens, Mikey is so methodical that I think it plays into Loma's hands.
Nobody was calling Lomachenko pfp after 6 fights. I suggest you look at his record and rethink that. As for Salido it never made sense because he didn’t have much success after that fight. Lomachenko beat a lot of fighters better than Salido, it’s safe to say he’s gotten better. So calling Salido his daddy is absolutely laughable and stupid.
We can debate the order, but I think Crawford, Spence, Loma, Inoue, and Usyk are the five best fighters in the world.
I remember people asking who had the faster hands. The better defense. The better footwork. The better timing. The better boxing skills. Both guys said that they were better at each category. Spence damn sure answered those questions.
I think Thurman’s stock has dropped. Not even because of his last performance but more due to the fact that his two biggest wins aren’t looking as good now due to how average both Porter and Garcia have looked recently.
Regardless he still hasnt lost and beat porter current champion and thurman previous undefeated champion.
If you fight 1 time in 2 years you’re stock drops that’s just how it is. Then in his comeback fight he’s wobbling all over the ring against Lopez.
