Probably Kessler. Canelo has plenty of chances to land counters but I don't think he could discourage Kessler enough to change the course of the fight. Canelo gets outworked and probably beaten up a bit down the stretch.
I can't see how Canelo beats Kessler. Kessler was a much bigger man, with a dependable enough chin to take anything Canelo dishes out. And from distance, Kessler would dominate behind his jab and combinations. If we're talking the 2006 version of Kessler, Canelo gets an ass whuppin TBH. It took Calz and Ward to beat prime Kessler, and the spurt fighting Ginger isn't in the same league as Calz and Ward.
