This is the best matchup happening this month, considering that Crawford-Khan is basically a mismatch. Relikh represents the biggest test of Regis' career. I expect Prograis to win, but I'm hoping he doesnt think that Relikh is a walkover. He seems as if he's looking forward to Josh Taylor in the final. Taylor has the easier fight coming up, as Baranchyk is made to order for him. Thoughts on Prograis-Relikh?
Only saw relikh once but he seemed decent. Look forward to this one I dont think the Taylor baranchyk fight is gonna happen
To the second point, why not? That one is official for May 18. Tickets are currently on sale. I haven't heard that it's off or in jeopardy or anything. Only thing stopping Taylor-Baranchyk at this point would be an injury.
I'm still on the fence on who to pick in a Taylor-Prograis matchup. Currently, I'm slightly leaning towards Taylor.
Well shit, Baranchyk is in training camp for somebody! He's been posting training camp picks from Wild Card regularly on his Instagram. I haven't heard that it's off. I saw an interview with Taylor from less than two weeks ago, and he mentioned nothing about it being Burns over Baranchyk.
On 1 Hand, Boxrec Still Lists Baranchyk as Taylor's Next Opponent...But Here's an Article REED Found from a Month or So Ago... Manager: Ivan Baranchyk still out of WBSS, will not fight Josh Taylor on May 18 Not Loooooooooooong After This, Baranchyk Dumped His Trainer and Hired Freddie Roach...If Baranchyk's Twitter Account is Any Indication, he's NOT Fighting Taylor Next... Baranchyk's Recent Posts Speak of "Making Changes", Roach, but NATHAN About Fighting Josh Taylor Next Month...Looks Like Neil's Correct... Shame, but as Loooooooooooooong as This Doesn't Compromise Inoue's Fight, REED Won't Sweat it Tooooooooooooo Much... REED
WBSS is still advertising the fight all over social media, as early as a day ago. I dunno WTF is going on.
REED Read Another Article Earlier Today, from January or So, Revealing Burns was ALREADY Locked In as a Replacement, "Emergency" Opponent... The Tournament ITSELF was an Excellent Idea, but the Execution of It has Been Hit or Miss for Sure... Hopefully Taylor-Prograis Materializes and the Bantamweight Portion of the Tournament Plays Out Accordingly... REED
Read today that Baranchyk would be stripped (and likely sued) if he pulled out the tourney. And Taylor HIMSELF said that he wont fight Ricky Burns, and that he's 90% sure Baranchyk will be the opponent. Looks like they got Baranchyk by the balls. He's just gonna have go and take his ass whuppin in Glasgow.
WOW!!!... This is What's Known as a "HOTfuckingMESS"...Either it IS or it AIN'T, Shit OR Get Off the Toilet... Baranchyk Was Destined to LOSE, but He'll Undoubtedly Use this Back and Forth as a Crutch, if He Indeed Fights Taylor on the 18th... REED
Why does he want out anyway? Is it a money issue? Or does his management team just realize that Taylor is too good for him?
Looks like the threat of being stripped worked - Baranchyk's manager now says Baranchyk will indeed fight Taylor. I'm glad. I had zero interest in seeing Taylor beat up old man Burns. May 18th is now a helluva card on DAZN. Inoue-Rodriguez and Taylor-Barachyk.
This fight is now 6 days away, and I'm excited! "Like I said before", Relikh is the first REAL test of Prograis' career - Terry Flanagan isn't much of a quality fighter. I'm gonna go with a safe pick and say Prograis by UD. If Prograis stops him, it'll be very impressive.
DAZN Donaire vs Tete is the co-feature. I honestly havent seen Tete before, but I'll watch footage this week. Really hoping Donaire wins so we can see Inoue vs Donaire in the final.
Not Sure How You Hurt Your Shoulder During Fucking FIGHT WEEK!!! TheFUCK Tete???!!!… Sparring Should've Been COMPLETED Last Saturday-Sunday...Most Strenuous Shit He's Doing Now is Roadwork, Mitts and Shadowboxing... Did He Hurt His Shoulder Lifting the Remote to Watch Donaire Footage or Something???... REED
I was thinking the same thing. His dumbass was probably overexerting himself during fight week. If there was one of the WBSS matchups to get scrapped, this would be the one for me. I'm really looking forward to Prograis-Relikh, Taylor-Baranchyk, and Inoue-Rodriguez, and would be highly bummed if one of them got called off. Donaire-Tete? I'm not broken hearted.
Could be that it was always injured and he gave it as long as possible to heal up. Or could be he wanted out.
True... Like You, REED Doesn't Believe he's Seen Tete Fight and Nonito's 5-7 Years PAST his Best Days Anyways...REED Ain't Cancelling the DAZN Subscription Over This, to Say the Least... The Tournament Itself has Been a COMEDY of Errors Though and a Co-Main Eventer Injuring Himself During FIGHT WEEK Just Adds to the Pile of Mess...Fingers (Eyes and Toes) Crossed the 140 and 118 Finale's Come Off w/Out Hitches...
