I was going to watch Shazam! today, but I barely slept last night and might fall asleep during the movie or worst yet: while driving. I will try to watch it tomorrow.

Nah, is okay at 1:50 and the credits are hilarious too. This is DCEUs Deadpool but PG-13.

SHAZAM! (2019) Shazam! doesn't try to be the Dark Knight, nor Aquaman nor the Avengers. No. It is basically a throwback nostalgic film of the 1940's character with the kind of 80's movies fun our current crop of superhero films lack. This is E.T., The Goonies, BIG & Superman all rolled into one highly entertaining film that might not be appropriate for children under 11 (it is a strong PG-13 as the 7 deadly sins demons are so scary it will give little children nightmares for life, plus the Mark Strong villain can be really disturbing at times). The great thing about this film is that it is its own thing and wasn't linked before to any larger DCEU universe plot so the writers and director could do pretty much what they wanted here and the results are very satisfying. The audience I watched the film was roaring in laughter continually even the very last scene got an audience applause. Great performance by all the cast including the cute little girl who admits can't keep a secret. I hope this movie does well enough to merit a sequel (there is an after credits scene that leads to that, but since I have never been a Captain Marvel/Shazam fan I was clueless what it was hinting at...The Joker?). Go watch it, buy a big popcorn & soda, and enjoy it! 8/10
