Given that Joshua will be earning nothing now, yes, £5m seems reasonable, cos if I am Joshua I wouldn't train for 12 weeks or whatever only for it to be all wasted.

But we never know in boxing, The instinct with certain people, like Hearn, is always to turn a negative into a massive positive.

And a great 3-4 round firefight where his man wins by KO in front of a rabid Polish-American audience and Eddie saves £3-4m is precisely the sort of stroke I would regard Hearn as being more than capable of.

I don't say Kownacki wasn't offered £5m but it's entirely possible he was offered jack shit and got upset about it.

seems like the fight will go on no matter what, and joshua will still get paid what he was originally gonna get paid. they just keep looking until they find an opponent willing to take the offer. joshua gets paid the same for an easier fight and hearn gets to milk him even longer and can still make the miller fight down the line when this shit blows over

 

The difference with Pulev situation is that that bout was cancelled few days beforehand, at which point almost any replacement will do. Now the fight is only after six weeks. Also the timing is very unfortunate as most top guys have fights scheduled
